In memory of Tom "Beezo" Brennan, killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks, TMBMF funds scholarships at Tom's alma mater, Boston College.

A friend recently shared this story of Tom…

“I came home to our apartment in NYC (circa 1993) and there was a message from Beezo which went something like this…but the third line is spot on and it struck me as so Beezo that its stuck with me since. (Everyone please do a mental Beezo voice):

‘Hey man, just seeing what’s going on tonight.
Guess you’re not there.
But wherever you are…hope you’re groovin’.
Call us back.’

Today, on this 25th anniversary of 9/11/01, if we sit in the sadness of what this day took from us, it would simply be too devastating. At TMBMF, we decided from the start to carry on Tom’s legacy with positivity. Since 2003, TMBMF has disbursed over $1.7 million to fund scholarships for 61 students (45 of whom have graduated) at Boston College, Tom’s alma mater, and each carrying a bit of Tom’s legacy along with them.

To that end, a playlist called “Yeah Man, A Beezo Anthology” was created 5 years ago on the 20th anniversary privately for Cat and Thomas in honor of their father. This 100 song, 8 hour playlist(!) was curated from family and a few close friends when asked what two or three songs immediately came to mind then they thought of Tom. We’d like to share it with you here. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2KLhGrVsQmNpGTsZoE9t9Z?si=82734339f5744911

So today, we’d like to ask you to do two things in that same groovin’ spirit:

1) Please save the playlist and give it a listen. It is as quirky and eclectic as the man it honors. All we ask is that when you do, you remember Tom with a smile!
2) Please donate at https://tmbmf.org/donate/ As the donation list on our website shows, every single dollar (over $1.7 million to date) helps one of our TMBMF scholars in some significant way.

Thank you for helping us maintain Tom’s legacy!

Another successful annual brunch with current and former scholars. Keeping the friends, family, and fun of TMBMF going for 23 years!

Friends,

On this 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, we find ourselves reflecting on the life and legacy of our father, Tom Brennan. Since one of us was only 16 months old and the other had not yet been born, we do not have personal memories of our father. However, we have acquired a deep understanding of his character entirely through stories from family and friends. Along with these stories, the work of The Thomas M. Brennan Memorial Foundation has helped us learn about the friendships and love of our father.

From the time we could read, we were encouraged to take a part in the TMBMF scholar selection process. In reviewing the applications, our mother and the scholar committee would look for the elusive “Beezo Factor”, an applicant’s trait or interest that was reminiscent of our father’s interests, hobbies, quirks and values. From reading applications to now recently joining the scholarship committee, our involvement in TMBMF has allowed us to connect with our father and see his legacy carried on each year through every single one of the fifty four scholars in the TMBMF family.

The generosity shown by you, our donors, has allowed TMBMF to disburse over $1.3 million in scholarship grants to date. As the two of us enter into a new era of helping to run this organization so dear to us, we humbly ask for your continued support this 23rd anniversary of the attacks on 9/11. By donating today, you can help ensure that our father’s legacy of kindness, strength, and hope continues to live on for another generation.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for every donation, kind word, photo and memory shared. While the mission of TMBMF is far from over, we are forever grateful and humbled to know how loved our father was, and continues to be.

With deepest gratitude,

Catherine Brennan and Thomas More Brennan II
