Rooted in the North End of Boston, NEMPAC's mission is to enrich lives through exceptional, accessible music education and performing arts programs that are as vibrant, diverse, and inclusive as our communities. The non-profit organization empowers artists of all ages and abilities between its community music school to its professional performing arts center. Most recently, the organization was aw

arded a building from the City of Boston and Mayor Walsh located at 50 Tileston Street and transformed this 18th-century historic building into a new NEMPAC Music Center, a state-of-the-art, public facility. A group of North End mothers founded NEMPAC in 2001 to create musical programming for their children. In 2004, the Robert White Foundation donated to NEMPAC their city-operated space located off the Prado (The Paul Revere Mall) In the North End. This space, consisting of 4 private music studios, a storage basement, and an office, is where we began to flourish. Today, we serve over 1,493 students per week through our education programs and partnerships, including the Boston Public Schools, the Charlestown Working Theater, Boston Festival Orchestra, and the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy. Our concerts make the North End of Boston a destination for arts and culture. As we continue to grow as a Performing Arts Center, we want to ensure we engage our audiences with creative, quality, and innovative programming.

✨ Experience Cabaret in the City ✨

This year’s Soirée on the Prado is more than a fundraiser—it’s an unforgettable night of music, glamour, and celebration in the heart of Boston’s North End.

Taking the stage are two incredible vocalists bringing the spirit of cabaret to life:

🎙️ Becca Allen — a New York-based mezzo-soprano bringing classical, theatrical, and cabaret artistry to favorites including Send in the Clowns, Maybe This Time, and Non, je ne regrette rien.

🎙️ Daon Drisdom — a tenor and New England Conservatory graduate whose dynamic artistry spans opera, jazz, spirituals, and the Black music repertoire, featuring Willkommen, September Song, and I Am What I Am.

New to cabaret? Think intimate live entertainment where music, storytelling, and personality come together to create something you won’t experience anywhere else ✨

And the night doesn’t end on the Prado. After the Soirée, join us at Mia Roof Deck for the official after-party with city views, drinks, and more time to celebrate.

Celebrating the incredible accomplishments of NEMPAC’s summer Bloomberg Arts Interns, Christabell Rustrian and Beck Peterson! 🎉💙

During their six-week internships, Christabell and Beck brought creativity, enthusiasm, and fresh ideas to our Education and Marketing teams. At the BAI celebration at MassArt, they showcased capstone projects focused on community engagement and social media marketing.

We’re so proud of all they accomplished—and grateful for the energy and ideas they brought to NEMPAC this summer! 🌟

Every great passion begins with discovery 💙 This fall, our Junior age group (6-8) have the opportunity to explore music in supportive group settings where they can build confidence, discover new skills, and experience the joy of performing alongside their peers.

NEMPAC now offers three exciting classes for young musicians who are ready to learn, play, and collaborate!

🎶 Junior Instrument Explorers - Openings in the North End & Charlestown
A fun and supportive classroom environment where students will explore instrument families including brass, woodwind, and percussion while building basic rhythm, listening, and ensemble skills.

🎸 Junior Guitar Explorers - Openings in the North End & Charlestown
Designed especially for complete beginners, students will build confidence while learning basic guitar technique, rhythm patterns, note reading, listening skills, and musical coordination. Students are required to have access to a guitar for class and home practice.

🎤 Junior Voice Explorers - Openings in the North End & Charlestown
While exploring a variety of musical styles including Broadway, Disney, pop, and folk music, students will learn the basics of vocal technique and develop healthy vocal habits and foundational musicianship. This program is designed especially for beginners.

YouthFest was a great opportunity for NEMPAC's Educational Operations Coordinator, Katie, our Interim Education Director, Jhon, and our BAI Educational Intern, Christabell, to represent NEMPAC’s Teen Internship Program and connect with Boston’s young people! 🎶💙

In partnership with the City of Boston’s Office of Youth Employment & Opportunity and Boston Music Project, YouthFest brings together Boston’s most talented up-and-coming artists while celebrating the City’s SuccessLink Youth Workforce initiative—all in the heart of Downtown Boston.

We are proud to see our staff and interns showing up, connecting with their community, and representing NEMPAC! 🙌

Yesterday evening, members of the NEMPAC team enjoyed participating once again in the North End’s National Night Out! Families and community members gathered on the Prado to celebrate their neighborhood pride. We also had a special visit from Mayor Wu to honor Principal Traci for the years of dedication she has given to the Eliot School and the North End community.

✨ What a night! ✨ Last Thursday, Grammy-nominated artist Debo Ray D E B O • R A Y brought the house down at Canopy by Hilton Boston Downtown Canopy Boston Downtown for an unforgettable evening of jazz, pop, and pure joy.

Even with the weather moving us indoors, Debo kept the energy soaring with powerhouse vocals, beloved covers (including classics from artists like Whitney Houston), and original music that had everyone captivated. The night ended with an impromptu dance party that perfectly captured the spirit of summer in Boston 🎶💃

Last Thursday evening, our Summer Musical Theatre Troupe presented their show, “Musical Theatre Camp: The Musical!” (book by Lucy Tew). This was our first summer piloting this new 3-week format, a summer version of our Musical Theatre Troupe that performs a holiday and spring musical during the school year. The show was a smashing success, full of songs from musicals all theatre students know and love. A huge thank you to our creative team for all of their hard work with the students—we are already looking forward to next summer!

On Wednesday, August 5 at 6:30 PM, NEMPAC’s Summer Singers—led by Jayson Banton and Anissa Perona and accompanied by Harriet Hung—take the stage at the Hatch Shell for a special prelude performance, opening for the Boston Landmarks Orchestra.

Stay for the full concert featuring excerpts from The Testament of Freedom and Verdi’s Requiem, wrapping up around 9 PM.
