About: The Friends of the West End Branch BPL is a non-profit organization supporting the West End Branch library programs, education, cultural experiences, and civic outreach for the West End Neighborhood. It is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization. Established over 25 years ago to support the branch library’s needs. The organization raises funds through Membership dues, book sales, and donations to finance and support activities, supplies and services benefit the West End Branch Library. Meetings are held the first Thursday of the Month @ 6:00 pm.

The Friends support the library experience by supplementing and supporting subscriptions, programming, activities, landscaping, and other needs the library may need to create a safe, enjoyable experience for the cross cultural, generation of the West End community.
We provide:
New York Times Annual Subscription
Supplement Children’s Programing
Supplemental Weekly Wednesday Afternoon Movies Series
Provide Additional Cross Cultural and generational programing for the Community
Landscaping and garden initiative
These services are not usually in the library’s budget. The Friends supplement and enrich the experience and outreach as we see the library as integral to community / neighborhood enrichment.
Our long term vision for the West End is to support the future library initiatives and redevelopment to ensure it remains an anchor for the community and neighbors of all ages

This year we are excited to move forward with the Landscaping initiative to provide safe outdoor/garden space for programming, education and enrichment. The first Landscape Committee Meeting will be held January 16 @ 6:00 Pm at the library. We are looking for volunteers in various capacities to include but not limited to:

Organization
Planting
And various other tasks associated with the success of this initiative

Volunteer and feel apart of the neighborhood to make positive changes and create a better experience at the library as an anchor for the community
stay abreast of redevelopment in the neighborhood as it impacts the role, services, and stability of the library as a neighborhood anchor for the community.
Invitation to attend monthly board meetings and receive minutes to stay abreast of upcoming events, initiatives, and redevelopment
Invitation to attend special programs and activities
Expanding exposure in social media
