Massachusetts Marine Educators MME is a dynamic, grass roots organization. Our goal is to develop a marine literate society and promote awareness of the ocean world as part of NMEA.

Cancelled - Estuary BioBlitz

Join Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve as we celebrate National Estuaries Week and National Public Lands Day in a fun BioBlitz challenge to see how many species can be documented at the Reserve. ‘Bio’ means ‘life’ and ‘Blitz’ means ”to do something quickly and intensively.” Together they make ‘BioBlitz’ — a collaborative race against the clock to discover as many species as possible within a set location during a defined time period.
It is easy to participate; simply join our event or make observations on your own using the iNaturalist app. With the iNaturalist app, simply take a picture of a species, and the online community will help identify the species. You can participate by exploring the nature and wildlife at the Reserve. Any observation you make will count during our event.

National Environmental Education Foundation - NEEF Restore America's Estuaries

Don’t miss “Inspired by the Sea,” a three-day celebration of ocean conservation, collaborative research and art this Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 27-29, in Provincetown.

The schedule includes a shoreline cleanup and seal walk at High Head, a marine debris trash tally, short films screened on the Hindu’s sail, demonstrations of innovative new research equipment, marine debris art workshops and exhibits, and a sunset sail with resident and visiting vessels.

Joining the celebration are several partners of the CCS Marine Debris & Plastics Program: The Rozalia Project for a Clean Ocean, a nonprofit dedicated to ocean conservation, who will attend on their sailing research vessel American Promise; Sail As You Are, a nonprofit organization that operates the historical schooner Hindu and cutter Bloodhound in Provincetown; Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), with whom CCS has had many collaborations; and numerous marine debris artists from the region.
