Join us at Boston Voices Rising 2026: https://community.jeremiahprogram.org/event/boston-voices-rising-2025/e680605 (SfS) is the first and only of its kind- a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that offers free volunteer babysitting to low-income mothers around Greater Boston. Our volunteers are college students, working professionals, moms, and retirees, all of whom are committed to helping single moms pursue their degree while having fun spending time with children! Sitters for Scholars uses a unique matching model which includes creating profiles detailing the information of families and volunteer sitters. Match requests using profiles are based on the compatibility of experience, availability, and other preferences. SfS uses a selective screening process to recruit volunteers with professional or informal childcare experience, which includes reference checks, an in-person interview, CORI/SORI checks, and attending a sitter training with CPR/first aid from a Certified Instructor. Aside from being qualified, enrolled families also undergo home visit interviews, and background checks in order to receive our services. We take all of the necessary measures to ensure the safety and positive experience of SfS families and sitters!
