⚡️ FRANKENPUPPETS- our first workshop as BCA theatre residents (!!!)- was an absolute joy. Thank you so much to everyone who joined us on Saturday! Your energy was impeccable, and your puppet spawns turned out beautifully. Special thanks to Bonnie Duncan (Bonnie Duncan) for seamlessly incorporating puppetry performance fundamentals into our chaotic building process. We hope to host many more workshops like this as we settle into our new home. Us artists and art-adjacent folks need to stick together, and there's no better way to get conversations flowing than to work on new pieces together in a shared space!

As we launch ourselves into our 2026-27 season, our ultimate goal is to expand our realms of artistic knowledge and explore the unknown together. Our next show, set for mid-September, is a puppet-centric celebration of the unconventional. More news to follow....... 💙📺🐭

Do you crave whimsy? Are you eager to repurpose the bits and bobs that may be cluttering your living space, but feeling unsure of where to start? GREAT NEWS: on Saturday, July 25th, puppet maker Bec L'Heureux will be joining forces with puppeteer and teaching artist Bonnie Duncan to hold an afternoon workshop that will let you construct and animate your very own puppet creatures! ⚡️

How can we inject humanity into seemingly simple objects? How do we take perfectly good junk and translate it anatomically? What does it mean to "think like a puppeteer"? We'll be answering these questions and more at BCA's Studio 204! We can't wait to see what little guys you bring into the world!

This event is RSVP ONLY, as capacity is limited. You can access the RSVP form using the QR code in the flyer, or at the link in the comments. Attendees must be 16 years of age or older, as we will be using hot glue and sharp things before summoning a lightning storm and maniacally shouting IT'S ALIVE in unison to make the puppets work. We appreciate your cooperation!

The word is out! We are ELATED to share that we've been selected for a 3 year theatre residency at Boston Center for the Arts (BCA)! 🎉

The BCA Launchpad Residency grants us access to rehearsal/performance spaces, production support, administrative assistance, and other essentials that will strengthen our foundation as makers and distributors of provocative art. Our gratitude cannot be overstated. Thank you to their team for helping us get settled in- and to you, dear reader, for following along and believing in us. 💙

Now that the beans have been spilled, we've got an array of micro events and performances coming up that you won't want to miss. Keep your eyes peeled (and your beans tidy) for more details this week! HOORAY!!!🫘

THIS SUNDAY, Sleeping Weazel takes the stage at Boston Playwrights' Theatre to perform My Roommate John is Moving to the Moon, written by our Associate Artistic Director, Sam Noble! Your presence and feedback have energized and inspired us to continue developing this show into something truly special. Be the first to see our newest show, TIME & TIMES AGAIN, at one of our work-in-progress showings happening next weekend at the Dance Complex! This is the first time we're publicly sharing a work-in-progress, and we want to include you in its developmental stage! 🫂

Sleeping Weazel collaborates with and Public Displays of Motion to examine human connection through an interdisciplinary lens. Hilariously written micro scenes intertwine with experimental choreography to illustrate how people navigate intimacy, isolation, and the ridiculousness of social interaction in the modern world.
