Whether you're making phở from scratch for the first time, recreating a dish your grandparents used to make, or discovering a new favorite recipe, we hope these cookbooks inspire you to explore the richness and diversity of Vietnamese cuisine.

As we put the finishing touches on Our Journeys, we're reminded that this exhibition is more than photographs. It's a gathering place. A place to reflect on the journeys that brought so many Vietnamese families to where they are today, and to celebrate the resilience, love, and community that continue to shape us across generations.

We're so excited to open our doors in Boston and welcome both familiar faces and first-time visitors into this next chapter of Our Journeys.

What do we gain—and what do we lose—when we adapt to a new place?

When Marjorie visited Our Journeys, she reflected on learning more about the Vietnamese diaspora experience and the immense challenges many families faced as they built new lives in the United States. In particular, she found herself thinking about the pressure to adapt, assimilate, and fit into American society—and how that process can sometimes come with the loss of cultural traditions, language, and connection to one's roots.

Her reflections remind us that migration is about more than crossing borders. It's also about navigating questions of identity, belonging, and what we choose to carry forward for future generations.

For many Vietnamese Americans, these questions continue today. How do we honor the sacrifices that came before us while staying connected to the culture, stories, and traditions that shaped our families?

That's one of the reasons Our Journeys exists. Through personal stories, oral histories, photographs, and artifacts, the exhibition creates space to reflect on the many ways people adapt, preserve, and redefine culture across generations.

Not every story begins with certainty. Sometimes it begins with questions. Sometimes it begins with mistakes. Sometimes it begins with a parent deciding to listen, learn, and try.

In Episode 21, we spoke with Cô Loan Nguyen, a proud parent ally and former community developer with PFLAG NYC. Through her own journey, she shares an important truth: acceptance doesn't have to be perfect to be meaningful.

For many LGBTQ+ people and their families, understanding takes time. Conversations can be difficult. Growth can be uncomfortable. But Cô Loan reminds us that what matters most is the willingness to keep showing up for one another with love, curiosity, and care.

Her story offers a hopeful reminder that allyship isn't about having all the answers. It's about choosing connection over judgment and continuing to learn, even when the path forward isn't always clear.

This Pride Month, we're revisiting stories that remind us what support can look like—and how powerful it can be when someone chooses to walk alongside us.

Who are you when no one else gets to define you?

In this conversation, Bri Nguyen reflects on the lifelong journey of discovering identity—not as a destination, but as an ongoing process of growth, curiosity, and self-understanding.

Sometimes that journey begins by learning where we come from. Sometimes it begins by questioning what we've been told about ourselves. And sometimes it means giving ourselves permission to evolve into someone we couldn't have imagined years earlier.

One of the most beautiful parts of self-discovery is realizing that identity isn't something we find once and keep forever. It's something we continue to shape throughout our lives through our experiences, relationships, communities, and dreams.

As Bri reminds us, growth comes from within. And as Mama RuPaul famously says, "If you can't love yourself, how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else?"
The work of understanding ourselves can be challenging, joyful, messy, and transformative—but it also creates the foundation for how we show up for others. When we embrace our own stories, we make space for others to do the same.

One of the things we love most about storytelling is its ability to remind us that we're not the only ones asking difficult questions, carrying complicated feelings, or searching for where we belong.

When we spoke with Trung Lê Nguyễn () in episode 41 about his graphic novel The Magic Fish, we were struck by one of its most powerful messages: q***r young people deserve stories that affirm their humanity—regardless of whether acceptance comes easily, slowly, or not at all.

At its heart, The Magic Fish is about language, family, identity, and the longing to be understood. It acknowledges a truth that many LGBTQ+ people know well: it is okay to want acceptance. It is okay to want to be loved. And it is okay to hope that the people who care about you will embrace every part of who you are.

For many readers, stories like these become more than books. They become mirrors, lifelines, and reminders that we're not alone.

As we celebrate Pride Month, we're revisiting conversations that helped us feel seen, connected, and hopeful—and The Magic Fish remains one of them. 💛

History often lives in textbooks, timelines, and major events. But some of the most meaningful lessons come from hearing how history shaped individual lives.

When Gautum and Patrick visited Our Journeys, they reflected on how powerful it was to learn about the Vietnam War and its aftermath through personal stories rather than historical facts alone. By engaging with the experiences of refugees, immigrants, and families, the exhibition helped bring a relatively recent chapter of history into sharper focus—revealing not only what happened, but how those events continue to shape lives, families, and communities today.

Their reflections remind us that understanding the past isn't just about learning what happened. It's about listening to the people who lived through it and recognizing how those experiences continue to influence the present.

That's why preserving these stories matters. Through oral histories, personal artifacts, photographs, and community storytelling, Our Journeys invites us to see history not as something distant, but as something deeply human.

🌍 June 20 is World Refugee Day. This year's theme, "Until Everyone Is Safe," reminds us that the right to seek safety and protection is something that belongs to all of us. Seventy-five years after the adoption of the 1951 Refugee Convention, millions of people around the world continue to be displaced by war, violence, persecution, and instability.

For many refugee families, the journey doesn't end when they reach safety. Rebuilding a life in a new country often means navigating unfamiliar languages, cultures, systems, and communities while carrying memories of what was left behind.
Within the Vietnamese diaspora, these experiences live on through the stories passed down by parents, grandparents, relatives, and neighbors. They remind us that refugee histories are not only stories of displacement—they are also stories of courage, adaptation, perseverance, and hope.

Today, we're highlighting organizations working to support refugees and displaced communities through humanitarian aid, legal advocacy, education, resettlement services, and community building.
