We had a blast at the D**e March and at Pride for the People this weekend! Thank you to the organizers and to all of the Coro Volunteers. We gained many new folks for our email list and a great batch of potential nominees. And look carefully to see who dropped by!

It's been well over a week since our final concert of the season, Luminous Rescue. Thank you to everyone who attended and wished us well. The 2025–2026 concert season may be over, but we still have an appearance at the Pride Flag Raising on June 1, tabling at Pride and the D**e March—come find us!—as well as our Summer Wine and Cheese Tasting on July 11. More on that later, but for today, here are some photos from the concert.

Make this Sunday’s Coro Allegro concert part of a perfect May afternoon in Boston.

Stroll through the Common and the Boston Public Garden while everything is in bloom. Grab a coffee and something sweet. Then head to the soaring sanctuary of Church of the Covenant for Luminous Rescue: Psalms of Protest and Reconciliation — featuring powerful and beautiful works by Ives, Bernstein, and Patricia Van Ness.

Afterward, stay for the free reception and then catch an early al fresco dinner in the Back Bay or South End.

Come experience Boston’s LGBTQ+ classical chorus in music that is dramatic, moving, and deeply alive.

Today we remember Jason Collins — a pioneer whose courage helped open doors for LGBTQ+ athletes and fans everywhere.

For many of us, representation in sports once felt almost unimaginable. Jason Collins changed that simply by living authentically and publicly, showing younger generations that there was a place for them on the court, in the stands, and in the world.

Coro Allegro has been honored over the years to sing in spaces where sports and LGBTQ+ visibility meet — from performances connected with the Boston Red Sox, to the World Figure Skating Championships, to Fleet Pride celebrations. Moments like these remind us that visibility matters, and that every person who steps forward makes it easier for someone else to do the same.

Rest in power, Jason.

Bernstein answers with rhythmic energy and aching beauty.
Ives with visionary harmonies and ringing bells across time.

“The Psalms contain everything,” Leonard Bernstein once said — joy, fear, rage, comfort, longing.

Next Sunday, Boston's LGBTQ+ Coro Allegro explores all of it in Luminous Rescue: Psalms of Protest and Reconciliation: Bernstein’s electrifying Chichester Psalms, Charles Ives’ visionary Psalm 90, and Patricia Van Ness’ deeply moving Psalms of Luminous Rescue, revised in response to rising hostility toward LGBTQ+ people.

These ancient texts still feel startlingly alive.
