This time last week, Board member and The Penguin owner Pamela Carthy and I, handed out over 170 bags to students at Northeastern’s Off-Campus Fest. The bags were filled with a Mission Hill business guide, menus, coupons, swag and resources from local businesses- thank you to all the businesses that contributed and thank you to Northeastern Off Campus Engagement and Support for having us back and giving the opportunity to promote MHMS! 🏫🔰🎓

We officially welcomed Empire Fruit to the neighborhood yesterday with a ribbon cutting celebration—just in time before the rain rolled in! ✂️🥭🥳🍾

Empire Fruit brings a delicious new selection of fresh fruit, healthy juices and smoothies, sweet desserts, and Colombian treats to the community. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate, show your support for Diego and Delmis (MH residents!), and help make the event such a success.

Go check out NAMU Distilling, New England's first and only Korean-American craft distillery specializing in spirits distilled from rice w**e- at their newly opened location at 89 Heath Street! Open Tues-Saturdays 4 p.m.-10:30 p.m.

"This season, there are plenty of new restaurants on the scene (or soon to be): Kimbap specialist Bap Street and Namu Distilling Company, which serves drinking food and cocktails made with its own soju and gin, both illustrate the blossoming Korean culinary scene."

Viewed collectively, a season’s openings offer a snapshot of the local dining scene.

Boston's 89 Heath Street has a long beverage history. For years, a soda and b**r equipment company operated out of that Mission Hill address. In the neighborhood, more drinks: Canada Dry bottled ginger ale down the block; the nearby nexus of Jamaica Plain and Roxbury was once home to many breweries. So it’s fitting that legacy continues with the opening of New England’s only soju distillery, Namu Distilling Company, which you can read about here: https://bit.ly/4hsoxM1

For the second year in a row, Northeastern’s CCE office will be holding the Mission Hill Community Swap in collaboration with Boston Building Resources (BBR). The swap is designed to keep items in good condition from staying overnight on the streets during the busiest time of year, move-in.

For the swap, they will be accepting donations of clothing, small furniture, and other household items this Friday and Saturday, August 28-29, from 10am to 2pm, at BBR on 100 Terrace St. Then, on Saturday September 12 from 11am to 2pm, they will be holding a block party in the BBR parking lot where all of the donated items will be organized and free to take. They are also be accepting additional donations during the block party.
