Massachusetts AFL-CIO State Fed

Massachusetts AFL-CIO State Fed The Massachusetts AFL-CIO is the unified voice of all organized workers in the Commonwealth.

We are the state’s largest labor umbrella organization, representing more than 750 local unions and intermediate bodies, such as joint boards and district councils. We are one of 51 state charters of our parent organization, the national American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO).

We need your help to urge Representatives to pass a strong, enforceable privacy law.

In this online world, data privacy and electronic monitoring should be everyone's concern. Workers expect privacy at home and at work, but data brokers and Big Tech have pushed an “anything goes” agenda that makes everyone's personal information vulnerable and up for sale.

These practices endanger all of us, including workers seeking to form a union.

Ask your State Rep to protect your personal data now!
Today, the MA House of Representatives is voting on the Massachusetts Consumer Data Privacy Act. This bill gives Massachusetts residents robust data privacy rights by banning the sale of our precise geolocation data and creating statutory limits on data collection and processing. This bill will allow people to sue if they believe their data has been mishandled.

Importantly, H.5472 would protect sensitive data related to union membership, a necessary step to protect union drives and prevent discrimination in hiring.

Legislators have also filed several amendments that will strengthen this bill and expand its protections.

Contact your legislators today to support these amendments and pass H.5472!

BK suffered catastrophic injuries after falling from the third floor of a burning home at 18 Treadway Road in Dorchester. Despite the extraordinary efforts of fellow firefighters on scene, Boston EMS, and the staff at Boston Medical Center, BK succumbed to his injuries.

He leaves behind two adult children, a loving girlfriend, and her children.

BK dedicated his life to serving others. Whether as a United States Marine, a Boston firefighter, or during his 15 years working for the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts, BK was always willing to step up and help anyone in need.

He was known throughout the PFFM and IAFF as someone who could always be counted on, no matter the task, the hour, or the challenge.
His commitment to the fire service, organized labor, and helping others left a lasting impact on so many people across Massachusetts and beyond.

BK’s loss is being felt deeply by his family, friends, fellow firefighters, and the communities he spent his life protecting and serving. During this incredibly difficult time, we are asking for your support for those he leaves behind.

Please consider making a donation in memory of Robert“BK” Kilduff, Jr. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will help support his family and honor the legacy of a man who gave so much to others throughout his life.

Thank you for your support, prayers, and solidarity.
