We’re so excited to start virtual programming with students from the 🌏 Copenhagen International School this fall.

WELCOME TO THE TEAM, TOMMY! 🧠🌺

Tommy recently graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a BS in Biological Sciences and minors in Chemistry and Leadership Studies. During his time at URI, he contributed to Alzheimer’s pathology studies at George and Anne Ryan Institute for Neuroscience, and performed independent research on mitochondria dysfunction. Tommy currently works as an Emergency Room Technician at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center. He began his career with MEDscience as Clinical intern during Summer 2025. In his spare time, Tommy is into strength training, hiking, and painting. We’re so happy to have you, Tommy!

Meet Dr. Nancy Oriol : Physician, Educator, Innovator, and Visionary Leader
Dr. Nancy Oriol is a distinguished anesthesiologist, educator, and longtime leader at Harvard Medical School, where she served as Dean for Students and Dean for Community Engagement. Throughout her remarkable career, she has been a passionate advocate for health equity, community engagement, and expanding educational opportunities for underserved populations.
Dr. Oriol is the founder of The Family Van, The Family Van an innovative mobile healthcare program that brings essential health services, education, and preventive care directly to underserved communities in Boston. Her pioneering work has helped redefine how healthcare institutions can connect with and serve their surrounding communities.
As co-founder of HMS MEDscience, alongside Julie Joyal, Dr. Oriol helped create our experiential learning program that brings medical science to life for high school students. Through immersive medical simulations, the program inspires young people from all backgrounds to discover their potential and explore futures in medicine, science, and healthcare.
A dedicated mentor and champion of the next generation, Dr. Oriol believes deeply in the power of education to transform lives. Her career reflects an unwavering commitment to compassion, innovation, equity, and creating opportunities for others to succeed.
Her legacy is one of opening doors, breaking down barriers, and inspiring the next generation of healthcare leaders.

Please meet Ambassador Nathalie Rayes, Nathalie Rayes, former U.S. Ambassador to Croatia, distinguished diplomat, and passionate advocate for education, leadership, and opportunity.
Born in Venezuela, Nathalie immigrated to the United States at age nine and went on to earn both her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in public policy from UCLA. Appointed by President Biden, she served as U.S. Ambassador to Croatia from 2024 to 2025.
Previously, she served as President and CEO of Latino Victory and held leadership positions in government, philanthropy, and international affairs. Recognized as one of the 25 Most Powerful Latinas in the United States, Nathalie continues to inspire others through her commitment to public service, equity, and empowering the next generation of leaders. Here HMS MEDscience we had the privilege of teaching her son Alexander and he and his brother Julian have spent the week with us as they are taking our program back to their school in Copenhagen. It has been a fabulous week with them and it was such an honor to have Natalie talk to our students from the Margarita Muniz High School in Boston Boston Public Schools Margarita Muñoz . Natalie’s talk was life-changing for the staff and for our students.

Students of Pathfinder Tech visited MEDscience for their first in-person module this semester. They challenged themselves in a patient simulation and demonstrated excellent phlebotomy skills 💉🩸 So glad that these students are finding their path 🤣 to medicine!

WELCOME JOSHUA! 🧠🥽

Joshua Senior graduated from the University of Southern California with a BS in Human Development and Aging. He’s passionate about neuroscience, and his research at MGH and HMS has focused on the genetic and clinical underpinnings of Tourette’s syndrome. Joshua has enjoyed tutoring organic chemistry and teaching middle and high school biology in L.A. He aspires to be a physician scientist, and looks forward to bringing his values of curiosity and scientific reasoning to the students of MEDscience! We’re so honored to have you on the team, Josh!
