πŸ“ˆ Boston's retail market is changing with Asian-owned businesses.

A recent article on The Boston Globe, written by Alexa Gagosz, discussed the impact of mainstream Asian media on global trends and how there has been a large shift in Boston retailers showing a rapid growth in many Asian-lifestyle stores.

No need for to travel for an online trend, Boston's demand to experience Asian-influenced lifestyle, from Korean beauty products to Japanese houseware, is now met with providers within reach. The market, like other cities, traced back to the late 1800s wave of immigrants from China seeking familiar tastes, so Boston's Chinatown was established.

The trend expands beyond Boston with recognizable stores, such as H-Mart, Muji, Teso Life, etc. The article also features many AAPI business owners and their insights about this market change.

🎊 It is our pleasure to announce that ABEC has secured a $100,000 earmark in the FY27 Massachusetts budget.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the MA Asian and Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus for their advocacy of a budget amendment dedicated to ABEC. The $100,000 earmark will fuel our programming to support AAPI-owned businesses, including mentorship opportunities, business workshops, and better connectivity to resources.

πŸ™ŒπŸ½ ABEC was grateful to join business leaders and community members from Western Massachusetts convened by Greenfield Savings Bank earlier this month at the State House.

Through conversations with Senator Comerford and engagement with legislative leaders across the House, Senate, and the Executive Offices of Economic Development and Housing, we discussed ideas, partnerships, and policy efforts needed to support the growth and development of this region.

ABEC is proud to have been part of these conversations and grateful to the Western Mass delegates whose leadership and perspective made the day meaningful.

A special thank you to Greenfield Savings Bank for making this impactful day possible.
