KAIROS Dance Theater aims to redefine the role of art in culture by speaking to social issues and working towards rewriting culturally defined narratives. Our work is built around the experience of creating movement, sharing stories, building connections, and using the body as an instrument of power and expression. For the past 15 years, we have enabled dancers and non-dancers to discover their vo

ices and the importance of their own personal stories through carefully crafted & customized training programs and performances throughout New England, New York, Korea, France and Russia. KAIROS performances use story-telling as a catalyst; a catalyst for people to truly LISTEN to each other – to really HEAR each other’s stories – to dismantle the imagined barriers between us, to discover our sameness. The movement and choreography is athletic and daring, the performers bold and committed. By stripping away layers to expose their truest selves, the dancers do not just dance, they bring to life stories, myths and memories that speak to the deep, human truths we all experience, inviting us all to embrace our deepest humanity. Through visual and physical story-telling KAIROS invites both performers and audience to deepen our understanding, our compassion, and our empathy for one another; because no matter how different each of us may be, we are all here sharing the same experiences, we all have common ground, and we all belong to each other.

Audition for the KAIROS Dance Theater 2026 Trainee Program.

Designed for dancers looking for serious training, creative challenge, and direct experience inside a working contemporary dance-theater company. Trainees work closely with KAIROS artists in a rigorous, process-driven environment centered on physicality, collaboration, listening, and performance practice.

This season’s program culminates in the creation and performance of a new site-specific work for the annual World AIDS Day Vigil with SPOKE/Boston.

📍 Audition: Wednesday, May 27 | 1130-230 pm
📍 Mass Motion Dance Boston | 100 Holton Street
📍 Two scholarships available: one full tuition / one half tuition (based on merit and need)

The KAIROS Trainee Program is a rigorous, process-driven training and performance opportunity for pre-professional and professional dancers ready to deepen their physical practice and expand their artistic voice.

Over 12 weeks, trainees work alongside Artistic Director DeAnna Pellecchia and KAIROS dancers in an environment grounded in physical precision, collaborative inquiry, and embodied storytelling — culminating in a public, site-specific performance at the Boston Center for the Arts.

KAIROS in rehearsal yesterday for What Remains Between with the musicians live—and the room was electric.

World-class musicians composing the score in real time across a four-hour rehearsal with brilliant dancers adapting moment to moment inside the unfolding work.

Commissioned by Global Arts Live, What Remains Between explores grief and joy as forces that exist because of one another—inseparable, intertwined, and deeply human. Intimate and raw, it moves through longing, release, and becoming.
