Panelists Highlight: Researching Interventions Panel
Nearly everyone will say that supporting effective interventions is important to them. Almost no one has researched which interventions are most effective. As a result, NGOs and Government-sponsored programs have little financial incentive to make sure their programs are effectively improving people’s lives. This is one reason why some interventions are thousands of times as effective as others.
Fortunately, there are a growing number of research institutions dedicated to ensuring that programs and policies are backed by empirical evidence. The Interventions Research panel includes representatives from three research institutions: MIT’s Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), Innovations for Poverty Action , ImpactMatters and MaxMind.
