Blake was born on the island of Trinidad and Tobago and came to Boston to work and attend college. She received her Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Business Management from Boston University and Suffolk University, respectively, and later received her Master of Arts degree from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. As a young woman, Joan Blake was passionate about teaching others. While living in
Trinidad she conducted free tutoring classes for children in her village. She was involved in school activities, extra-curricular activities and spent vacation time with her children during their growing up years. She is a Christian who has worked behind the scenes in the field for Christ, who prays for and encourages family and friends, who loves to pray for the sick, lead Bible studies, and help others. Joan worked as an accounting instructor in a community college for several years, operated a home-based accounting and tax business and worked in government as an auditor before God called her into ministry. She began her ministry by writing editorials and profiles on pastors in The Christian Connection newsletter. Then God lead her in other areas of ministry. She started prayer and support groups in her home, women’s monthly breakfasts, and conducted mini conferences on the Key, the Door and the Way to Success and Rise up and Build. She is the president and founder of Christian Resource Network, Inc. and the editor and publisher of The Christian Connection Newsletter. Additionally, she is the author of Standing on His Promises: Finding Comfort, Hope, and Purpose in the Midst of Your Storm published by Key to Life Publishing Company. She is a speaker at many of the Women’s Network Breakfasts she conducts and at local libraries where she discusses her new book. Her hobbies are reading, writing, and walking. She is a wife and mother of four adults. She and her family reside in the Boston area.
