We will have a section wide mini-exercise today, Saturday 8/1/26. This will be a smaller exercise to get folks on the air and check basic communications ahead of the peak of 2026 hurricane season. We are looking at doing a virtual workshop in the Fall in lieu of a Fall exercise and target a larger exercise in February 2027. Details on today's mini-exercise can be seen here:

While many hams have their go kits ready for emergencies, the first and most important part of your response plan is your family. Before you deploy, do you have a plan for them, where to meet or where to go? This training will help answer some of these questions and make deployment much easier knowing that your family is safe. This training is free to all ARRL members.

If phones, texts, or the internet suddenly fail, does your family know how to reach each other?

Don't wait for a crisis to figure it out. Join ARRL’s Education Specialist Wayne Greene, KB4DSF, for the next On the Air Live to explore the P.A.C.E. plan (Primary, Alternate, Contingency, and Emergency) and how it can help you build a practical, multi-layered family communications strategy.
👉Wayne will break down exactly where amateur radio fits into the mix and how to keep the plan simple enough for everyone in your household to understand and use.

🗓️ Date: Tuesday, July 28th
🕗 Time: 8:00 PM Eastern

On Sunday May 31, amateur radio operators from the Acushnet Office of Emergency Management, Dartmouth Emergency Management Agency, New Bedford Emergency Management Agency and the Town of Rochester EMA and including a number of "ham" radio operators from the area, attended a SKYWARN training session at the Southeastern Massachusetts Amateur Radio Association facility in Dartmouth. Teaching the class was Rob Macedo, amateur call, KD1CY. Rob, whom we all know, is the SKYWARN coordinator for the NWS Office in Norton. Information received by these trained observers is sent to the National Weather Service and the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency. The ground truth intelligence is used by the NWS to assist them in forecasting and warning. MEMA utilizes this intelligence to assist with damage assessment and provide a better situational awareness picture. The SEMARA club also owns and operates the 147.00 repeater which serves as the MEMA Sector 2A RACES. In addition, the club also operates a 900 and 220 repeater.repeater.

On this Memorial Day weekend, we are grateful to those that made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms. We are also grateful to have had strong words from Congress supporting Amateur Radio from Senator Ted Cruz of Texas. The story & video here:

Senator Ted Cruz, in a strong pre-Memorial Day message publicly highlighted the critical role that Amateur Radio Service volunteers play during disasters, praising and thanking ham radio operators who provide essential communications when storms and emergencies knock out power and cellular networks....
