Food safety is always important, but lately, it’s been especially top of mind. 🥘

From food recalls and outbreaks to keeping food safe at home, knowing how to handle, prepare, store, and serve food safely can help protect you and your family.

A few simple reminders:
🧼 Wash hands and surfaces often
🌡️ Cook foods to safe internal temperatures
❄️ Refrigerate perishable foods promptly
🥩 Keep raw foods separate from ready-to-eat foods
📋 Check food recall alerts when they’re issued

Food safety is nutrition safety, and it’s something we can all play a role in. Share with your community!

If you have a few minutes, please consider sending one email and making one call today, July 30th. Why today? The MA legislative session officially ends tomorrow, July 31st and action must happen now!

Background info and instructions on two action items:
(1) MAND’s telehealth bill (H.4340) continues to move forward in the legislative process and is now being reviewed by the House Ways and Means committee. This is one more step in the right direction, but many steps remain.
Emailing House Ways and Means Chair Michlewitz can help move the bill closer to the finish line.

Link to template and instructions on sending: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Ryi-3QUh6AzvRoSxuGXUH4YaR1TKaN6zBCYOP6Z_GjY/edit?usp=sharing or DM for link

Just personalize with your contact information and send!
(2) MAND is a member of the MA tMED Coalition, which has filed its own telehealth bill calling for permanent telehealth payment parity for all primary care services. If passed, insurers would need to comply with the coverage mandate. There is an amendment (Amendment #96 by Rep. Marjorie Decker) being discussed today that our state representatives can cosponsor to support telehealth payment parity.

Look up your state representative: https://malegislature.gov/Search/FindMyLegislator

Call your state representative’s office at (617) 722-###X. (n.b., don’t call Rep. Decker if that is your representative, as it is her amendment).

What to say? “I am a constituent calling to ask the representative to cosponsor Amendment #96 in support of telehealth reimbursement parity.”

Be ready to provide your home address and telephone number if asked.

Asked a question you cannot answer? Email [email protected].

If you get voicemail: state your full name and telephone number, then say that you are a “constituent calling to ask the representative to cosponsor Amendment #96 in support of telehealth reimbursement parity.”

Thank you for helping to advocate for telehealth reimbursement parity!

Still feeling energized after celebrating Dietitian Day at Fenway Park! ⚾️

So grateful to spend the day surrounded by passionate dietitians and nutrition professionals who care deeply about advancing our field and supporting one another.

Events like this are such a great reminder of the impact RDs make across so many different settings.

Even more meaningful, together we helped raise money for Massachusetts Dietetic Education Foundation (MDEF), supporting future nutrition professionals through scholarships and educational opportunities.

A huge thank you to everyone who organized, attended, donated, and helped make the day such a success. Proud to be part of this profession and community! 💙
