CASTING AN ENSEMBLE to devise a modern version of Wycherley’s The Country Wife, the hit of 1675 London about fidelity and deception that was considered too immoral to perform. Looking for actors to bring imagination, energy and a strong collaborative spirit to the playing of multiple roles without particular attention to age, gender, race or ethnicity.
Core ensemble members will receive expenses-paid training in NYC with a leading theatre company known for their devised work.
Initial workshop performance at Charlestown Working Theatre in May. This project will be developed on a part-time basis over several months.
Massachusetts Theater Experiment looks for projects that incorporate new forms and media to bring the talents of Boston-area theatre artists before a wide audience. The ethos of the company is collective creativity and individual responsibility.
How to Audition:
Auditions in March and April by daytime appointment. Auditions will consist of a short interview and rehearsing with the company a short comic scene written between 1590 and 1750. Send headshot, resume, and daytime availability to [email protected]. We will reply with full instructions.
