Our latest newsletter is out. Here's what's inside:

We welcomed Christopher Edwards to our Tree Team as a Tree Care Assistant. We were also selected for a Cummings Foundation grant, receiving $40,000 over three years to support urban forestry in low-canopy Boston neighborhoods.

The opening reception for Learning With Trees: Artists and Ecologies of Connection is this Saturday, June 13, from 2 to 5 pm at HallSpace in Dorchester. We'd love to see you there.

We also teamed up with Rozzie Bound Books on a summer reading list by and about people of color in environmentalism, and we're asking supporters to urge their legislators to fully fund trees in the Mass Ready Act.

Meet Jane Marsching at the art exhibition, Learning With Trees: Artists and Ecologies of Connection, located at HallSpace in Dorchester! Jane Marsching is an interdisciplinary artist and Professor at MassArt whose work explores the history, ecology, and community of a place. She connects people to trees and their diverse ecosystems through projects like the Urban Tree Oracle and her Resilient Pigment Library.

We have some exciting news! Tree Boston is one of 150 local nonprofits selected to receive funding through the Cummings Foundation's $35 Million Grant Program.

At Tree Boston, our mission is to grow and protect Boston's urban forest, with a focus on the neighborhoods that have the least tree canopy and need it most. This multi-year grant helps us continue planting trees, hosting free tree giveaways, caring for the trees already in the ground, and running the education and youth programs that keep our urban forest growing for generations to come.

Trees do so much for our city. They cool our streets, clean our air, take up stormwater, and make our neighborhoods healthier and more livable. Support like this brings us closer to a greener and healthier Boston for everyone.

Huge thanks to Rapid7 for their hard work and sponsorship at our tree planting last week at Harambee Park in Dorchester! Despite the heat, their efforts brought 12 new trees into the park, creating a greener, healthier space for the surrounding community. We hope to collaborate with Rapid7 again in the future.
