🚨 BREAKING: SLOTHS HAVE TAKEN OVER THE STATEHOUSE! 🦥 ✊ XR Boston activists humorously disrupted a legislative session today at the Massachusetts statehouse, saying how impressed they were at how slowly they're acting on the climate crisis - slower than sloths! Lawmakers were forced into recess and halted proceedings. Two sloth rebels hung from ropes inside the statehouse and three sloth rebels were arrested.

XR Boston demands that the MA government move faster to combat the climate crisis, banning new fossil fuel infrastructure, reaching 90% emissions reduction by 2030 and not 2050, and strengthening the recently proposed climate bill by further incentivizing renewables and adding back the budget for Mass Save, the states effective and critical energy efficiency program that saves ratepayers.

Celebrate with us this Friday, April 24! Massachusetts Peace Action's Peace, Justice, and Climate Working Group is co-hosting a special film screening of "Earth's Greatest Enemy" by Abby Martin @ Calvary Church Arlington (300 Massachusetts Ave, Arlington, MA 02474)

"Earth’s Greatest Enemy" reveals a hidden truth behind the climate crisis: the role of the U.S. military as the world’s largest institutional polluter, tracing the link between war, empire, and ecological destruction. Drawing on powerful testimonies from veterans, scientists, and frontline communities, it uncovers how military operations poison ecosystems, accelerate global warming, and sacrifice the future for endless expansion. From Alaska’s melting glaciers to contaminated bases across the U.S. and toxic battlefields abroad, "Earth’s Greatest Enemy" delivers a provocative and unflinching examination of the untouchable institution playing an outsized role in the climate crisis.

Doors open 6:30 pm, film starts at 7 pm.
Entry is free, donations welcome!

This Valentine's Day, we're breaking up with the toxic banks that are funding fossil fuels, genocide in Gaza, ecocide, and the private prisons that ICE detains our neighbors in.

We're blasting breakup songs, marching, and making our voices heard - we demand better from the banks funded with OUR money!

The breakup is almost here! Join us this Saturday, Valentines Day, to leave dirty banks in the dust. In the name of all we love, we are breaking up with the toxic banks who have set our world on a course of destruction, telling them to Stop Melting the Wrong ICE!

Citizens Bank is the major funder of I.C.E. private prisons. JP Morgan Chase and Bank of America are the two major investors in fossil fuels and both broke their climate commitments just before Trump’s second inauguration.

We will be holding two events simultaneously, one in Harvard Square and one in Jamaica Plain.

In Jamaica Plain we will meet at JP Morgan Chase Bank at 11:30 am with custom heart shaped signs and live music to read our bank breakup letters and then march down to the street to call out each toxic bank. More info & RSVP here: https://xrboston.org/action/valentinesdaybreakuppartyjpmorganchaseja/

In Harvard Square we will meet at Bank of America at 11:30 am, then march to Chase and Citizens Banks, where we will read breakup letters, pass out flyers, and blast breakup songs. More info and RSVP here: https://xrboston.org/action/v-day-breakup-party-at-bank-on-america-harvard/

Head to whichever location works best for you! Come dressed in your favorite breakup outfits and feel free to bring your own bank breakup signs or borrow ours.

Please RSVP and invite your friends, neighbors and family to join.
