Long time coming, we welcome our new president, . Artscope Magazine

Why she inspires us and others: the artist’s journey in her words.

I was definitely that child who was always doodling, drawing, painting, and singing to myself. By the time I was in college, I was torn between earning a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts. The night before I had to register for a major, I asked the universe for a sign. I had an art show at a local coffee shop, and that morning I discovered I had sold my first large-scale painting for $500, a significant amount for a teenager in the late ’90s. That sale was the decisive factor in my decision to pursue an art career. Ever since then, I’ve been a working artist for 30+ years, feeling incredibly lucky to get paid to make art and travel, which is all I ever wanted to do.

What sets Heather apart foremost is her beautiful and inviting spirit, from her smile that mesmerizes you to her willingness to adapt, change, and work hard. She believes that art should be affordable and accessible to everyone, so working consistently for this long and being a certified Woman-owned and Small Local Business makes her feel incredibly proud of the soothing peacefulness that emanates from her canvases. Life is about celebrating beauty, truth, and connectivity.

Please join us as we welcome Heather. She moves us forward, and great things are ahead.

Windchill, the phenomenon in which the perceived temperature drops significantly due to wind, is a powerful metaphor for broader social and environmental
challenges. Windchill amplifies the effects of cold weather and societal inequities. The artists of NAWA-MA (National Association of Women Artists, Massachusetts)
engage with themes of awareness, adaptation, stability, and instability, as well as the interconnectedness of all beings. This timely multimedia exhibition, entitled
Windchill Factor features drawings, paintings, sculptures, and installations that address women's unique experiences and perspectives, as well as the obstacles they
have had to overcome throughout history. Women are potent collaborators with the foresight to facilitate the environmental and social change necessary for a healthy
future.

The themes explored in “Windchill Factor,” combined with the mutual support of creativity and the validation of expression, make this show relevant to artists and
viewers now and in the future.

Juror Brynn Wartman, the Gallery Director of Karen and Ted Koskores Gallery, has showcased artists' work for more than 40 years.
Works featured:
1. "The Moon" by Larisa Waya. This work aims to recreate the houndstooth woven fabric by manipulating wooden sticks and twigs rather than textile fibers.

2. "Winter's Dance" by Jill Law Artist & Interior Designer. This work is in constant motion, evolving as life's journey twists, turns, and continues to inspire. Through my art, I express transient moments abstracted, distilled, and translated for the viewer's reflection. I offer an alternative perspective that is often overlooked by the mainstream. Balanced between figural representation and gestural abstraction, I offer an intuitive visual connection. Multidisciplinary practices in painting, drawing, sculpture, and photography enable exploration, scrutiny, and immersion in the immediacy of thought, place, and awareness. Through my work, I aim to spark curiosity and insight. Using texture, layers, color, and composition, I communicate across a broad range of materials, pausing to add thoughtful details.

3. Linda Hoffman "Let Us Decide" Cloth, Wood, Chrystal, Brush. In her words: I find inspiration at Old Frog Pond Farm in Harvard, MA. I moved here in 2001 with my three children, leaving a marriage of twenty years. There was an abandoned apple orchard on the land, and I decided to revive it organically. The orchard became the first pick-your-own organic apple orchard in Massachusetts, and this month, we celebrate our 19th annual outdoor sculpture exhibit, along with fruit picking. As the farm continues to grow, I find inspiration from the land and the community of writers, farmers, artists, and spiritual seekers it attracts.

Heartbeat Memories explores the living rhythm between memory and the present — how the past continues to pulse within us, shaping who we are and what we create. Each work emerges from the dialogue between remembrance and presence, revealing how emotions, histories, and experiences resonate through time. Through sculpture and mixed-media pieces that weave together fragments of personal and collective stories, the exhibition invites viewers to listen to their own inner pulse — to sense how every heartbeat carries traces of what has been, and how each moment becomes part of an ever-unfolding memory.member and phenomenal artist Silvina Mizrahi now through March 6, 2026.

The Artists exhibiting in this urban and water space express themselves and invest in their creative process. Acceptance can be dark, but a breakthrough is a choice that defines you; it’s what makes you. Understanding is the ultimate breakthrough, and it is not to be left in the hands of others. Your breakthrough is yours alone until what you yearn for comes through.
