We are excited to be collaborating with the BSA for an all-day COUNTER FUTURES CONFERENCE exploring, orienting, and engaging in solidarity building toward an emancipatory futurist imaginary. The conference sessions are designed to work through the relational, political, and practical aspects of solidarity building by exploring different questions underpinning the work towards a counter future of liberation, justice, and equity.

We are excited to host an introductory workshop on participatory theatre inspired by Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed (TO). Building on Paulo Freire’s Pedagogy of the Oppressed, TO exercises theatre as a collaborative effort where everyone is an active participant in storytelling, narrative shaping, and world-building while focused on critical social and political themes.

The workshop will be led by artist and educator Kayhan Irani and is open to everyone! No prior experience needed, just curiosity and commitment to our collective liberation!

We’re back at the with artist and poet for a poetry workshop on Revitalizing Revolutionary Spirit. In a world manufactured for despair, where does hope lie? How do we cultivate the drive for radical action? What does a revolutionary spirit embody?

We will be reading some literature from global revolutionary artists, poets, and writers, sharing perspectives, and exchanging ideas through poetry writing exercises.

This workshop is free and open to everyone, please rsvp as capacity is limited. We will be providing all materials. No prior poetry or writing experience needed!
