Our mission is to build an extensive and vibrant MIT Sloan Alumni community across New England. We:
Promote continuing personal and professional development
Provide fulfilling social outlets and opportunities for giving back
Make a positive impact on the business world through world class conferences
We strive toward our mission by providing: world class conferences; industry & academic speakers,
career support, networking opportunities, recreational events and philanthropic projects. Our two largest events are the MIT Sloan CFO Summit and the MIT Sloan CIO Symposium Together these two events attract more than 1,000 leading financial and technology executives from around the world. Past speakers included CEOs, CFOs and CIOs from the DoD, BankAmerica, Cardinal Health, Home Depot, Marathon Oil, Fedex Kinkos, CISCO, and Aetna to name a few. The club also hosts annual industry-focused events such as our Biotech Series and Real Estate Series along with many speakers of general or academic interest with topics including System Dynamics/Climate Change, Management and Stress Management. On the lighter side the club hosts a social networking series at various venues in greater Boston (e.g., Henrietta’s Table, Morton’s and Sonsie), recreational activities (such as a tour of Fenway and a day at Equinox) and an opportunities to give back (e.g., a Boston Harbor Clean-Up day). Understanding that the current economy has caused more of our fellow alumni to be in (or are proactively preparing for) a career transition, MIT Sloan Boston has launched an all-out career campaign focused around the MIT Sloan Alumni Career Development Series. The Series offers programs led by best-selling authors and leading experts to help Sloan Alumni in any segment of the career cycle. Topics have included Job Search via LinkedIn, Career Planning Overview, Career Management while Employed, Executive Presence, Working a Room and First 90 Days at a New Firm. I encourage all Sloan Alumni to join the club and get involved. Maybe that means showing up to a conference or networking event, taking on a leadership role on a conference organizing team, writing an article for our newsletter or planning a new event based on your own interests. I sincerely believe that the club has something for all alums regardless of your industry, function or class year. If you see anything missing from our lineup, please contact me right away and we will discuss how you can make it happen! I thank all of our volunteer leaders for making this club excel. We are working hard to build upon our past success and look forward another great year. Best regards,
