Team coaching requires more than strong facilitation skills. It asks practitioners to assess what is happening in the system, notice patterns of interaction, and offer appreciative feedback that helps teams see new possibilities for effectiveness and change.

GISC’s Coaching Teams program provides training and practice in team coaching applications of the Cape Cod Model©, a powerful competence-based approach to working with teams in organizational settings.

This nine-day live-online intensive includes extensive practice, including two days working with real-life visiting client teams. Participants are observed and coached as they work, receiving feedback from master facilitators, peers, and the client teams themselves.

There’s still time to register for GISC’s free clinical practice interactive session happening this week!

Join us on June 5 from 12:00–1:00 PM ET for “Staying in the Saddle: Maintaining Presence with Clients When the Ride Gets Rough,” led by GISC faculty Lucy Ball and Renya Larson, MA, LMSW.

Together, Lucy and Renya bring decades of experience in psychotherapy, executive coaching, leadership development, and organizational consulting. Lucy specializes in executive, pairs, and team coaching, as well as supervising and training experienced consultants and coaches. Renya is a psychotherapist, leadership consultant, and coach with more than 20 years of experience across healthcare, nonprofit, and corporate sectors.

This session is part of GISC’s free online series introducing clinicians to key Gestalt concepts and their practical application through the Cape Cod Model. Participants will explore how presence, awareness, and the ability to stay engaged in challenging moments can support growth and development in the client relationship.

GISC’s Leading Self: Blended Learning program helps participants develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their impact on others, and the core skills needed to build stronger workplace relationships, lead with presence, and make intentional choices.

Through self-paced online lessons, reflection, assessments, live-online group meetings, and one-on-one coaching, participants will explore practical applications of Gestalt core concepts, including Awareness, Optimism, Presence, and the Cycle of Experience.

Ready to develop your coaching skills?

GISC’s Competency Development Program for Coach Certification is designed for both new and experienced coaches who want to strengthen their skills, deepen their practice, and pursue coach certification.

Through theory, discussion, extensive coaching practice, live interaction, and mentoring from qualified faculty/mentor coaches, participants will develop the competencies needed for high-impact coaching. The program supports those looking to establish a coaching practice, add coaching to an existing business model, integrate coaching into leadership, or use coaching as an internal practitioner.

Successful completion earns the GISC Coach Certificate and qualifies graduates to apply for International Coach Federation (ICF) credentials.

2026–2027 In-Person Program | Boston

In this clip from GISC’s Conversations with Clinicians series, Sharona Halpern reflects on the therapist’s role in helping clients learn something new about themselves. A meaningful challenge may “push the edges” just enough for a client to notice a new possibility, pattern, or part of themselves they had not seen before.

But challenge only becomes useful when it is grounded in support. For those moments of discovery to matter, the therapeutic relationship must include trust, care, and a sense that the client is not alone in the process.

Gestalt reminds us that support and trust are not one-time offerings. They are built over time, within the relationship, creating the conditions for awareness, growth, and change.

Join GISC for a free workshop in our clinical practice series exploring Gestalt theory through the lens of the Cape Cod Model.

Our upcoming session, “Staying in the Saddle: Maintaining Presence with Clients When the Ride Gets Rough,” will explore the Gestalt concept of “Presence” and how to cultivate it under pressure. We will create space for you to share your own strategies, metaphors and wisdom with each other as fellow therapists.
