Still Harbor

Still Harbor Where spirituality and collective liberation meet ✨

As a group of individuals engaged in the movement for equity and justice, we became acutely aware of a growing need for space to encourage individual and collective exploration of identity, belief, purpose, and connection. In response, we founded Still Harbor to provide a neutral place, process, and partner that champions the essential, but often neglected, role of spirituality in framing this exp

loration. Those working with us connect to the core of their work and, in turn, benefit from an improved ability to pursue and sustain innovation and meaningful exchange. Still Harbor’s programs of spiritual formation and accompaniment apply the world’s many traditions of contemplative practice to helping individuals and organizations understand, deepen, or reconnect with their inner call, capacity, and commitment to make change in the world by serving others.

Over the past five years, Still Harbor has been blessed by the thoughtful and innovative leadership of Marchaé Grair.

Marchaé has played a vital role in reimagining Still Harbor’s programming and reaching and serving the next generation of spiritual leaders.

As Still Harbor prepares to transition to new leadership on October 1st, Marchaé penned a reflective note of goodbye to this community. Read it here ⤵️

Dear Still Harbor Community: Think of your favorite ending. It could be the series finale of your all-time favorite show or the ending of your favorite book. Earlier this year, we announced that Still Harbor made the difficult decision to close operations.

However, as we began that process, a small group of BIPOC spiritual leaders—including two Still Harbor alum—came forward with an interest in continuing Still Harbor’s mission.

After a period of discernment and conversation with these leaders, Still Harbor’s Board of Directors has voted to transition leadership over to this new group, effective October 1, 2024.

Still Harbor envisions a world where activists, movement leaders, and those on the margins have access to life-giving spiritual care.

Since 2008, we have pursued this vision in a variety of ways—from coaching social justice leaders to offering in-person and virtual programs that nurture people’s capacity to offer transformative soul care.

This spring, we made the difficult decision to close operations following several years of reflection, discernment, and honest conversations among our team and leaders. Our estimated close date is October 1, 2024, following the graduation of current students from Still Harbor’s Spiritual Direction Practicum and Group Supervision programs.

While the decision to close the operations of Still Harbor is laden with grief, we also know there is wisdom in learning when to let go. We trust, too, that the seeds Still Harbor has planted over the past 15 years will continue to bear fruit.

We will host a closing virtual event in September so that we can gather, reflect, and celebrate the shared impact and the legacy of Still Harbor in community. Stay tuned for more details!

And thank you for being part of this collective. We are deeply grateful for all of the people who have contributed their care, talent, wisdom, resources, time, and love to Still Harbor over the years. You have helped make this work uniting spiritual care and collective liberation possible 💜

"...to me, the work of spiritual care is getting in touch with our own humanness, our own softness, that inherent divinity inside of us, not only for ourselves but also so that we can begin to get in touch with it in others."
