Happy Juneteenth, Boston! Your parks feature monuments and memorials that honor Boston's rich Black history. Celebrate today by taking a self-guided tour: start at the famed Shaw 54th Regiment Memorial (the launchpad for the Black Heritage Trail), then visit The Embrace and 1965 Freedom Plaza, where you can learn the names of Boston's iconic civil rights leaders. Don't miss trailblazing poet Phillis Wheatley at the Boston Women’s Memorial on the Mall, and be sure to stop by the Boston Massacre Memorial featuring Crispus Attucks on the Common. We encourage everyone to get out, explore these public art pieces, and connect with our city's history!
Today and over the weekend, communities across Boston will celebrate Juneteenth with performances, educational programs, and family-friendly events, including a DJ set tonight on Boston Common at the UnCommon Corner!
