Bow Seat: Creative Action for Conservation Our signature program is an annual Ocean Awareness Contest engaging tens of thousands of youth globally. Bow Seat was founded by Linda Cabot in 2011.

Bow Seat: Creative Action for Conservation is a Boston-based nonprofit that works to inspire the next generation of ocean caretakers through education and engagement with the arts, science, and advocacy. We believe that changing our world starts by inspiring and energizing the next generation of ocean caretakers to vividly imagine a better future. Our programs center the creative arts as vital too

ls to learn about issues impacting our environment, connect more deeply with nature, and bring communities together to care for our blue planet. Since then, Bow Seat has engaged nearly 25,000 youth from all 50 U.S. states and more than 134 countries through educational initiatives such as the Ocean Awareness Contest, the Future Blue Youth Council, and monthly webinars.

We’re excited to introduce the Blue Planet Awareness Contest: the new name for Bow Seat’s Ocean Awareness Contest! 💙

For more than a decade, young artists have used their creativity to speak up for our ocean. But we’ve seen something incredible along the way: their stories have expanded to explore climate change, biodiversity, conservation, Indigenous and local communities, and the many ways our lives are connected to the planet.

So, we’re expanding with them.

The Blue Planet Awareness Contest reflects the bigger, bolder vision of today’s young changemakers, while artivism at its heart.

Are you 16–24 and using creativity + environmental action to tackle ocean, waterway, or climate challenges? The True Blue Fellowship could help take your project to the next level.

Selected Fellows receive:
🌱 Up to $2,500 USD in seed funding
🤝 A global community of youth changemakers
💡 Capacity-building opportunities
🌊 Support from the Future Blue Youth Council and Bow Seat staff

Individuals, groups, and organizations are welcome to apply with new or emerging projects less than two years old.
