Asian Women for Health

Asian Women for Health OUR APPROACH:

EDUCATE: Education is the key to good health. ADVOCATE: Advocacy is crucial in promoting health equity.

Asian Women for Health is a peer-led, community-based network dedicated to advancing Asian women's health and wellbeing through education, advocacy and support. OUR VISION:
We envision a world where Asian women are well-informed, have access to culturally appropriate, quality care, and are inspired to live happy, healthy lives. We will provide culturally and linguistically appropriate information

and training to dispel myths, increase health literacy, and improve health communication. We will work on policy at all levels to push for disaggregated data, and support equitable funding for impacted populations. RECIPROCATE: Reciprocation is essential for growth. We will foster a nurturing environment for collaboration, connection, and capacity-building. OUR STRATEGIES:

• Conduct community forums to engage stakeholders and use their input for program development.
• Collaborate with academic and community partners to collect and share data to inform policy makers.
• Engage and mobilize communities to establish a coalition to address important and emerging health issues in the Asian community. OUR COMMITMENT:

• To develop a pipeline of Asian female leaders as peer health educators, advocates, and community researchers.
• To connect community members, service providers, and policy makers.
• To catalyze change and promote health equity.
• To honor our cultural heritages and nurture each other by lifting spirits, inspiring leadership, and sharing stories.

Some more BTS shots from our collaboration with At What Cost Film Production team. Please donate generously to the project! 20% of the $8000 Goal will go to Asian Women for Health- https://www.gofundme.com/f/au8768-fundraise-for-social-impact-film-at-what-cost

At What Cost reflects the experience and struggles of immigrant families: the generational divides, the unrealistic expectations and traditional ideals parents force onto their children, the difficulty to express love outwardly.

Looking forward to presenting the film in December!

As we all prepare to head into the fall/winter season, we want to encourage everyone to get their vaccination and stay up to date! A NEW COVID-19 vaccine is now available and is a crucial step to prevent COVID-19 and other respiratory infections.

The new COVID-19 Vaccination will be covered by all insurances without cost sharing. Those uninsured or underinsured individuals may receive vaccination at no charge in certain settings including mobile vaccination providers, community health centers, LBOHs and all CVS and Walgreens locations offering vaccine.

Vaccination will also remain available to children at no cost via providers who participate in the federal Vaccines for Children program.

Meet Vivian, an accomplished medical physician who has had some amazing experiences and have had the honor and privilege to work with Doctors Without Borders and assigned to Syria and Swaziland. She has also worked in history's worst Ebola outbreak in 2015 with Partners In Health in Sierra Leone- yet through most of her experiences and being so accomplished she often felt a deep conflict within herself.

Imposter Syndrome mostly occurs in highly accomplished individuals and the pandemic has exacerbated these issues.
