Meet the Member: Martina Angela Müller

For Martina Angela Müller, sculpture begins with listening.

Working in metal, stone, wood, and porcelain, she draws inspiration from the fluid movements found in nature...the forces that shape wood, stone, clouds, and water over time. Through meditation and careful observation, those quiet rhythms become dynamic, expressive forms.

Featured here is New Nike (2020), a porcelain sculpture inspired by a weathered piece of wood discovered at the Temple of Samothrace. Created during the pandemic, the work reflects resilience, transformation, and the enduring human spirit.

Martina's work has been exhibited throughout the Northeast, including SculptureNow at The Mount, Lightforms Art Center, and numerous public sculpture exhibitions. Her sculptures can also be found in permanent public collections, including Ashuelot River Park in Keene, NH, and Hawthorne Valley in Ghent, NY.

"Universal creativity lives in nature and waits for our discovery." –Martina Angela Müller

Looking for a unique place to showcase your sculpture?

Bradley International Airport is accepting submissions from artists in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts for its rotating exhibition program. Selected work will be displayed in highly visible glass cases in the airport's pre-security area, where thousands of travelers pass by each day.

The exhibition is a year-long loan beginning in September 2026. While the opportunity is unpaid, artists receive signage, contact information for potential buyers, and the ability to sell work during the exhibition if interest arises.

Submit images of your work, titles, materials, a brief artist statement, and your contact information to [email protected] by July 31, 2026.

This is a wonderful opportunity to share your work with a broad audience. Good luck to everyone who applies!

Meet NESA Member: Gary Cota

Growing up surrounded by the woods and waters of Swanzey, New Hampshire, Gary Cota developed a deep appreciation for the natural world, one that continues to shape his work today.

After studying illustration and painting at the Rhode Island School of Design, Gary built a successful career creating hand-carved wooden signs before returning to his lifelong passion for fine art. His sculptures and oil paintings draw inspiration from the landscapes he knows best, exploring the quiet beauty of forests, water, and changing light.

Working primarily in walnut, ash, and cypress, Gary's carvings highlight the unique character of each piece of wood while celebrating the forms found in nature.

We're proud to have Gary as a member of the New England Sculptors Association.
