Do you need assistance to apply for U.S citizenship? The MIRA Citizenship Team will be hosting a free legal assistance citizenship workshop to help applicants fill out the N-400 Application for Naturalization, and submit it to USCIS.
To be eligible for citizenship in most cases you need to meet the following eligibility requirements:
-Be at least 18 years old
-Show that you have had a green card for at least five years (or 3 years while being married to a U.S. citizen);
-Demonstrate continuous residence in the United States for at least five years immediately before submitting your application;
-Show you have been physically present in the United States for at least 30 months out of the five years immediately before submitting your application;
-Show that you are a person of good moral character and have been a person of good moral character for at least five years immediately before submitting your application;
-Be able to read, write and speak basic English (exemptions apply);
-Have knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of the history, and of the principles and form of government, of the United States, (civics); and
-Take an Oath of Allegiance to the United States.
