The Boston Ultimate Disc Alliance (BUDA) is seeking 1-3 new members to join its Board of Directors starting in January 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping and expanding the ultimate frisbee community in Greater Boston, across all levels — youth, college, recreational, and club. As a board member, you'll help create lasting positive impact for the sport and its participants in the area.

Who are we looking for?

Ideal board members will have the following qualifications:

Desire to Serve: An enthusiasm for ultimate frisbee and a passion for strengthening the community in Boston.

Time Investment: Willingness to contribute 5-8 hours per month to Board activities, meetings, and event planning.

Collaborative Mindset: Open-minded, communicative, and comfortable working as part of a team.

Inclusivity: We encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply and are committed to creating a Board that reflects the diversity of our community.

What do board members do?

Key responsibilities of the board include:

Strategic Oversight: Collaborate with other board members to set BUDA's long-term goals and priorities for the ultimate community in Boston.

Event and League Planning: Help with budgeting, planning, and overseeing BUDA's leagues, tournaments, and other events.

Policy Development: Contribute to the creation of policies and procedures to ensure safe, inclusive, and enjoyable participation in BUDA events.

Staff Oversight: Participate in hiring and supporting the staff who handle the day-to-day operations of BUDA.

Community Engagement: Represent BUDA’s mission and values, working to engage and strengthen connections within the Boston Ultimate community.

With the support of players like you, we’ve been able to make BUDA a sustainable and thriving organization. Just in the past few years we have hired a youth operations manager, created new beach and goaltimate leagues, and hosted more tournaments for youth and club players. There’s far more we want to do to expand playing opportunities in the Boston area, but we need your help.

Our upcoming Gala Fundraising Event will help fund youth program inclusion and expansion, giving financial aid to kids who need it, recruiting more coaches, and conducting more free after-school programs and clinics in Boston.

This Giving Tuesday, get your ticket to the Gala to attend this exciting event and support Boston youth ultimate!

With thunderstorms in the weather we want to remind everyone to stay safe. Games can be postponed and rescheduled if need be

As spring showers come down this week we want to remind everyone of our Lightning Policy

If you hear thunder OR your computer or app shows that lightning has struck within ten miles, suspend activity. If you do not have access to a computer or app that shows the proximity of lightning strikes, suspend play if lightning is seen even if you cannot hear thunder.

Wait at least 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder or strike within ten miles (or flash of lightning if not using a detection app), before bringing captains/coaches together to determine how play at your event will continue.

We’re striving to make the Boston ultimate frisbee community an inclusive space for all and that means standing with our transgender, non-binary, and gender diverse players both on and off the field.

The BUDA Board has committed to donating to the National Center for Transgender Equality and BUDA has signed onto the USAU Open Letter in support of gender inclusion in ultimate. Additionally, there is a group working on an updated gender inclusion policy and we are excited to release it in the near future.

We are committed to making strides along this journey and invite you to join us. To start, you can email our Equity Committee at [email protected] or the BUDA Board at [email protected]. We encourage everyone in the community to remain engaged and support our teammates, friends, and community members as we fight for acceptance and safety for all.
