New England Seafarers Mission

New England Seafarers Mission A Maritime Ministry in Boston and Providence providing advocacy, encouragement, evangelism and support to seafarers with the help of local congregations.

Our ministry involves climbing aboard the container, gas and cargo ships that enter our ports and visiting with the crew while their ship is tied up. Often we are asked to provide es**rt off and back onto their ship through the security restricted terminals. Our Cruise Ministry involves gathering volunteers from member churches, groups and individuals to assist us in our Seafarers Center.

The New England Seafarers Mission is deeply saddened to learn of a crewmember who went overboard from a Norwegian Cruise Line vessel off Cape Cod on its way to Boston. We join the maritime community in holding this individual’s loved ones close in our hearts during this painful and uncertain time. As the Coast Guard and authorities complete their efforts, we ask all who care for seafarers to pause and lift this family in prayer. May they be surrounded with comfort, strength, and the assurance that they are not alone in their grief. We also pray for the ship’s crew, who continue their duties while carrying the weight of this tragedy. In moments like these, we are reminded of the risks seafarers face and the importance of standing with them in compassion and faith.

We have received unofficial reports that a crewman from the NCL Breakaway, due into Boston today, has gone overboard. The ship has dispatched lifeboats in the area to continue the search along with the USCG. Please keep all in prayer.

A new season has begun at Black Falcon Cruise Terminal—and it’s already bigger than ever.

This week marked the first day of New England Seafarers Mission’s cruise ship ministry, welcoming crew from the Norwegian Breakaway, now nearly 1,800 seafarers strong.

After long hours at sea, crew members stepped into a space made just for them—not rushed or overlooked, but welcomed. Gift bags. Free shirts and caps. A place to pause, breathe, and be seen.

That’s what this mission is about.

Turning strangers into guests—and guests into friends.
But as the ships grow, so does the need.

We need you!

Volunteers are the heartbeat of this ministry—the hands and face of Christ to those far from home.

For the first four months, all volunteer opportunities are on weekends.

Seafarers Mission & Giving Tuesday - *neseafarers.org* This Giving Tuesday, help us be the joy no one can take away.
Seafarers like Mari can go years—sometimes a decade or more—without seeing their families. At the New England Seafarers Mission, we meet them with warmth, prayer, and compassionate care.
Your gift today helps us say to every crew member who walks through our doors: “Help is here.”
