It's time for the MA Leigslature to pass Rep Kate Hogan and Senator Julian Cyr 's PFAS bill.

We have a PFAS problem. Rep Hogan and Sen Cyr have worked for years, with Connor Read and others, to study the problem--and craft the solution.

It is time to pass the bill that puts that solution into effect.

It's July and we have only a few weeks to pass an absolutely essential bill to protect our health from PFAS. This is a great overview of what's at stake.

With federal regulators rolling back protections, the burden falls increasingly to states and other entities.

PFAS, or “forever chemicals,” are used in products from clothes and carpets to cell phones and firefighting foam. Because of their industrial uses, PFAS pollution is rampant. These forever chemicals are everywhere, and as the name suggests, they don’t break down.

PFAS chemicals are linked to cancer, hormone disruption, autoimmune disorders, inflammation, and high cholesterol, and the risks are particularly high for pregnant people and newborns.

The Toxic Free Kids bill would ban toxic chemicals known to be getting into children's bodies from being put in children's products.

Newborn babies deserve a healthy start free of toxic found in . Phthalates are linked to developmental, reproductive, and immune harm.

To protect health, we need government and corporate policies that reduce the use of toxic plastics and dangerous chemical additives like phthalates!

Hmm, what to have for dinner? PFAS?

The polluting our water don’t just harm wildlife—they end up on our plates.

PFAS build up in the food web, moving from tiny aquatic organisms to fish, wildlife, and ultimately people. When PFAS in products contaminate our environment, they contaminate our food, too.

The study makes the case for banning the entire class of PFAS: it found that PFAS chemicals like F-53B, used to make machine parts, showed the highest average increase at around three-fold from prey to predator. F-53B was promoted as a less toxic alternative, but it is now building up in the food chain at an even greater rate than its predecessor.

To protect our health, wildlife, and the food we eat, we must ban all PFAS!
