Composer Spotlight: IMAN HABIBI
Iranian Canadian composer Iman Habibi’s “Beloved of the Sky” for a string quartet is paired with works by Su Lian Tan and Beethoven.

Habibi has been commissioned by the Boston, Philadelphia, and Toronto Symphonies, and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, and was nominated for the 2024 JUNO awards.

Habibi’s “Beloved of the Sky” is inspired by the work of artist and writer Emily Carr.

🌟Composer Spotlight: Su Lian Tan

Composer and flutist Su Lian Tan returns to Emmanuel Music for the performance of her work “River of the Trunk” for voice, violin, cello, and piano with text by John Elder. We premiered Su’s motet “Honorable Harvest” in Feb 2025 and are excited to work with her again!

BIG weekend at Emmanuel Music! We are thrilled to welcome back David Chin to Emmanuel Music to conduct BWV 47 and give a talk on the cantata: “Greatness in Humility” at 12pm in the music room following the Sunday’s service.

Pamela Dellal gives the first installment of our 3 fall Cantata Conversations on Saturday Oct. 10. These events are open to everyone, no prior knowledge of cantatas is required, but there will be a 30 min intro session on the basic terms and structure at 9:30am before the official conversation begins at 10.
