Our licensure bill is officially S08714, with State Senator Michelle Hinchey serving as Senate sponsor. We’re incredibly grateful for her leadership and support of patient-centered healthcare.

Now comes the most important part: advocacy.

Dr. Dennis Godby Walks the Walk for Health Equity:

Naturopathic physician Dr. Dennis Godby is taking bold steps—3,200 miles worth—to raise national awareness about the importance of health equity and the role lifestyle and preventive medicine must play in transforming healthcare.

Now entering the fourth leg of his journey, from Fargo, ND to Bozeman, MT (8/25–9/ 25, 2025), Dr. Godby continues to walk across the country, one step at a time, to spotlight the urgent need for a system where all Americans have the opportunity to achieve their fullest health potential.

This incredible journey is a testament to the passion and commitment that naturopathic physicians bring to the conversation around access to public health. Let’s celebrate Dr. Godby’s incredible efforts!

This week, the AANP formally called on the US Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) and the Department of Education to recognize ND education as the nation’s most comprehensive model for physician-level nutrition training.

Why this matters:
-ND programs provide upwards of 220 hours of nutrition training vs. just a few hours in most MD programs.

-NDs are already trained to integrate nutrition with whole-person, preventive care.

We urged federal leaders to:
• Demonstrate whole-health integration in care

• Support pilots & evaluation of ND approaches

• Remove barriers limiting patient access to NDs

• Leverage existing partnerships with NIH and existing federal partnerships to accelerate nutrition-centered reforms

This is a pivotal step in positioning naturopathic doctors as leaders in whole-health and preventive care at the highest levels of federal leadership.
