In Memoriam: Manuel “Tito” Bautista Ramil

El Centro Cultural Cubano extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Manuel “Tito” Bautista Ramil, a founding member of the CCC, who passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, at the age of 86.

Tito, of Stuart, Florida, was born in Havana, Cuba, and attended Belen School and Villanueva University. In 1960, as a refugee of the Cuban Revolution, he fled to the United States with his parents and began a new chapter of his life in Massachusetts.

Tito built a remarkable career in the shoe and leather industry, leading Ramil & Company, an international exporting firm based in Boston, for more than 50 years as its President and CEO. He also served as Honorary Consul General to the Republic of Costa Rica under Presidents Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard Nixon.

In 1999, Tito and his wife, Ellen, relocated to Stuart, Florida, where he lived for more than 25 years. He became a beloved member of the community and volunteered with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

Tito will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, strong character, and the many friendships he formed throughout his life. Above all, he cherished his family and the time they shared together.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Ellen Luz Ramil; his son, Filip John Ramil, and daughter-in-law, Chelsea Kaloupek; his son, Joseph Ramil; and his granddaughters, Isabella Ramil and Julianna Ramil.

Tito leaves behind a legacy of family, friendship, hard work, and a life lived with purpose and enthusiasm. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Tito’s memory to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. When making a donation, please include “In memory of Manuel Ramil” in the notes.

The Centro Cultural Cubano is proud to support the Venezuelan Fund with a donation to help provide critical resources and assistance to communities impacted by the devastating earthquakes that struck northern Venezuela on June 24, 2026.

The powerful earthquakes caused widespread destruction across multiple regions, damaging homes, hospitals, schools, businesses, and critical infrastructure. Thousands of families have been affected, creating an urgent need for emergency support and long-term recovery efforts.

The Venezuelan Fund, led by the Latino Equity Fund at The Boston Foundation, is partnering with local organizations and trusted groups on the ground to provide essential assistance, including search and rescue efforts, emergency medical care, food, clean water, temporary shelter, and supplies for displaced families.

Beyond immediate relief, the Fund is also supporting long-term recovery efforts focused on rebuilding homes and infrastructure, expanding health and mental health services, strengthening schools and community organizations, and supporting economic recovery for affected families.
