A new project on Martha’s Vineyard is testing a different approach to institutional solar, one that extends value beyond the host site.

Through PowerOptions Connect, Vineyard Power, Martha's Vineyard Hospital, and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, a 138-kW rooftop solar installation is paired with philanthropic funding to channel long-term benefits into the surrounding community.

The result: an expected $550,000+ in electricity bill assistance for income-qualified Island households over the next 25 years.

This is the first completed project under the SolarShare model, which integrates one-time grants into institutional solar to create a sustained community benefit stream while preserving host savings.
