SAVE THE DATE! Saturday, November 7th 2026. We are looking forward to our Fall, Annual Meeting and Dinner to be will held on Saturday, November 7th, at the Chateau in Norton, MA. Our guest speaker this year will be Joan Griffin, who will share her experiences hiking on the John Muir trail. We hope you can join us! It’s always a fun time! This year, SEM is holding our annual Chapter Hut Weekend at Camp Burgess in Sandwich, MA, from October 2-4. There are options to join for the day on Saturday, October 3, or the entire weekend. Activities will include hikes, bike rides, paddles, and camp staff-led offerings, including a zip line and climbing tower. This event is open for registration. We hope you can join us! Please join us for the 21st year of our popular Trail Trace the Blue Hills Thursday Evening Series! The series is a lot of fun and you get to meet great new friends and enjoy the outdoors each week as we explore every foot of every trail in the magnificent gem called the Blue Hills Reservation. Participants who complete the entire Trail Trace of the Blue Hills are awarded a patch. This week's hike will start earlier and go for a shorter distance than normal in order to make time for our end-of-season potluck picnic! We will hike at a moderate pace that averages between 2 – 2 ½ mph. The trails in the Blue Hills are a mix of smooth flat surfaces; rocky, uneven terrain; and sections of rock scrambles which make each of these hikes interesting! Join even if you can only make the picnic! See link below to register

Check this out! Our recent AMC 150 Relay / SEM leg - AMC-150 Northern Presi Traverse: On July 28th, 3 groups eager hikers and Southeast MA hike leaders set out to complete the Northern Presidential Traverse as part of the AMC-150th Anniversary Relay Celebration. Despite months of planning, Mother Nature threw in a last-minute monkey wrench with strong winds, rain and lightening that prevented the full ridge walk. Despite the setback, the group embraced the challenge and managed to summit Mt. Washington and Mt. Monroe followed by an amazing night at the Lakes of the Clouds Hut. Ammonoosuc Ravine Trailhead: (3 groups) Lakes of the Clouds Hut: (Entire Group) Mt. Monroe Summit: (2 Groups). Mt. Washington Summit: (One Group)

Hiroko & Phil Hardebeck have organized a SEM weekend hiking trip every month this summer: Appalachian Trail in Western NH in May, Mooselauki Ravine Lodge #1 in June, Upper Valley, VT in July, & Mooselauki Ravine Lodge #2 in August. The participants enjoyed beautiful hiking and awesome camaraderie. All trips sold out within 5-10 days. Stay tuned for the next one, and make sure you will join H & P!
