🇺🇦✨The Threads That Bind Us: 20 Years of Vyshyvanka Day✨🇺🇦

There is a beautiful magic in seeing our heritage come alive in the heart of Boston.

Every year, the iconic Make Way for Ducklings Statue in the Boston Public Garden receives a beautiful transformation.
Dressed in their own tiny, custom-made Vyshyvankas, Mama Duck with ducklings stand as a heartwarming symbol of our traditions intertwining with our home here in New England.

Gathering for the 20th anniversary of the World Vyshyvanka Day was deeply moving. Seeing our community reunite in a vibrant sea of colorful embroidery filled our hearts. By singing our traditional songs and passing these customs to our children, we ensure our culture lives on.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who joined our flash mob, including members of organizations, such as: Ukraine Forward, DOBRO, American Coalition for Ukraine, Пласт Бостон - Plast Boston, UAYA Boston - CYM Бостон, Ukrainian School MA/ Українська школа MA, Ukrainian Congress Committee of America - Boston Branch, and others. You carry our history, pride, and unbreakable unity on your sleeves. 💙💛

Dear Ukrainians and friends of Ukraine 🇺🇦,
Please join us on Thursday, May 21, 2026, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of World Vyshyvanka Day — a global celebration that unites Ukrainians and friends of Ukraine in more than 100 countries around the world 🌍
What began as a small student initiative in Chernivtsi has grown into an international symbol of unity, cultural diplomacy, and love for Ukrainian traditions.
Vyshyvanka is more than embroidered clothing — it represents heritage, identity, resilience, gratitude, and connection between generations and communities worldwide.
📍 Boston Public Garden — Make Way for Ducklings Statue
🗓 Thursday, May 21, 2026
🕟 Starting at 4:30 PM
✨ Event Schedule:
🐥 4:30 PM — Dressing the famous ducklings with festive Ukrainian-inspired decorations and gathering for photos and community time.
📸 6:00 PM — Traditional group photo in vyshyvankas.
💙💛 Following the photo — a special flashmob dedicated to the 20th anniversary of World Vyshyvanka Day.
Communities around the world are invited to participate by forming the number “20” as a human chain while holding Ukrainian 🇺🇦 and American 🇺🇸 flags.
To make this happen, we truly need a large crowd — at least 200 participants!
Come support the flashmob and become part of the history of World Vyshyvanka Day ✨
🎶 After the flash mob, we will continue our tradition of singing beloved Ukrainian songs together, accompanied by an acoustic guitar.
If you would like to perform a few Ukrainian a ca****la songs, please message Alona Popova by May 17 to include your song in the program.
The only request is that the songs be widely known so everyone can sing along together ❤️

☔️ The event will take place weather permitting. In case of rain or weather-related changes, updates will be posted on the event page.

Wear your vyshyvanka — whether it is a family heirloom, a modern design, or your very first one — and become part of this worldwide tradition.

Join us for our annual spring Hayivky and picnic in Boston! 🌿🌸

Come with family and friends to welcome spring together — sing, dance traditional Ukrainian Hayivky, enjoy a picnic, reconnect with old friends, meet new ones, and simply spend a lovely Sunday in good company 💛
What to expect: 🌿 a spring program by Grono Choir 🌿 traditional Hayivky for children and adults 🌿 a shared spring potluck picnic 🌿 homemade food and warm company
As always, we kindly ask each family to bring something to share for the community potluck.
✅ A few important notes:
* community effort makes it all happen
* coming alone - invite a friend
* Please bring picnic blankets, folding chairs or tables, tablecloths, utensils, and trash bags
* Please plan your dish to serve about 10 people
* alcohol and open flames are not permitted under city regulations
* Parking is allowed in designated areas only
