Ralphie Doesn’t Understand Why Humans Keep Leaving Him
💔
My name is Ralphie, and I’m starting to lose faith in people.
I was dumped in the woods, alone, hungry and scared. I was brought to an Animal Control kennel, wondering why the humans I trusted had left me there.
Then someone adopted me.
I thought, “This is it. I have a family again.”
But I was returned.
They didn’t understand that I’m a Husky. I play rough. I wrestle. I get goofy and wild. That’s just part of being me. But instead of understanding me, I ended up back in the kennel.
I was disappointed, but I tried to believe again.
Then came Ralphie, Take 2.
Someone else chose me.
And this time, something changed.
I started to relax. I started to show my personality. My silly, happy Husky side came out.
I started wooing again.
I was finally enjoying the comforts of a home. I was learning to trust. I was beginning to believe that maybe these humans were different.
Maybe they were my forever family.
I had ONE WEEK.
One week of feeling safe.
One week of believing I belonged.
Then their lives changed…
and I was brought back.
💔
I don’t understand human lives changing.
I don’t understand circumstances.
I don’t understand that sometimes things happen.
I only understand that I loved them… and they left me. Again.
And this time, the disappointment has been different.
When I came back, my wooing stopped.
The excitement stopped.
The happy greetings stopped.
It’s almost like I’m afraid to hope anymore.
I look at people now and instead of thinking, “Is that my person?”
I think…
“Are you going to leave me too?”
💔
I’m still Ralphie.
I’m still a goofy, energetic, loving Siberian Husky. I still want to play. I still want to learn. I thrive with gentle training and someone who understands what it means to love a Husky.
But right now, my heart is tired.
I’ve been disappointed by humans too many times.
I don’t need someone to feel sorry for me.
I need someone who will choose me—and keep choosing me.
Someone who understands that life can change, but Ralphie doesn’t have to be the thing that gets left behind.
My next home MUST be my last home.
Please don’t apply for me if you aren’t absolutely certain you can make that commitment. I cannot go through another goodbye.
But if you can look into my eyes and promise me:
“Ralphie, you’re safe now.
You’re home.
I’m your person.
And I’m not going anywhere.”
Then please come find me.
Because underneath this sadness is the boy who used to woo.
The boy who wants to play.
The boy who wants to love his person with his whole heart.
I just need someone to show me that not every human breaks a promise.
I want to believe again.
I want to be someone’s best friend.
I want to finally know what it feels like to be home.
🐾💔 Please be my last goodbye. ❤️🩹
