! This week we want to spotlight Mese! Another Guild Community Love and Gratitude Awards recipient. 🥳🥳🥳

It is a special gift when someone can truly see people with a compassionate heart and understand when others may not have the words to ask for help. Mese is one of those people! She is genuine, authentic, and incredibly reliable! Instead of asking “how can I help?”, she sees where the need is and without hesitation chooses to step up and just lend a helping hand. She not only saw our need and dove into volunteering; she showed up religiously!! Even as a full-time working mom, Mese carved out time to volunteer over 200+ hours in less than a year to support The Guild’s Community, Love, Wellness, and Connection Relief Pantry! 🥰🥰🥰 She has been an invaluable part of our team receiving families and distributing critical care supplies. The work of holding space for and checking-in over 150 families per pantry, with a loving spirit and generous heart, multiple times a week, takes emotional and mental stamina! 💪🙏You’ve helped thousands of families and continue to show up with your beautiful spirit! 💞 Mese we are immensely blessed to have you as a part of our Guild family! We love you DEARLY and We THANK YOU from the bottom of our heart! 🖤🖤🖤

Today we want to spotlight YVONNE P! 🥳😍🥰

Cheerful, full of energy, loving, and compassionate. Yvonne radiates love and joy from every cell in her body. Even at the height of the pandemic with fears around embracing others, Yvonne created the “elbow bump and toe taps” as a means of adding connection and playfulness into our daily routine. Every week for over two years, Yvonne religiously delivered to our elders and quarantined families experiencing severe food insecurity. She delivered thousands of care packages to the most vulnerable members of our community with a beautiful smile; her smile beams from behind her mask. "Above and beyond" are the words to describe Yvonne’s work at The Guild. It didn’t matter if it was packing bags of essential supplies, delivering care packages across the city of Boston, registering pantry families, or packing up areas of the building for renovations, Yvonne was there! Any void she could fill, she did it without hesitation and with a generous heart. Thank you for the gift of your presence! We LOVE and ADORE you!

Happy Saturday! The Pierce-Cook Community Garden has been stewarded by The Guild and our intergenerational neighbors since 2012. This was a blighted, abandoned site that our community transformed into a beautiful community asset filled with beautiful herbs and fresh vegetables. Photo of one of our neighborhood elders tending to the garden. 🌲🌷🌺🌲

to the transformation of 191 Bowdoin St into the Bowdoin-Geneva Community Hub! Where intergenerational neighbors and friends came together to convert this main street eye sore into an outdoor oasis ⛱🌲🌞 back in 2012. For 8 years, we provided healing, wellness, and cultural programming to residents. With this location now under development, we are planning for our next outdoor sanctuary.

🌟Drop a comment for what programming you’d like to see in our next outdoor location! Stay tuned for more! 😎

Originally from South Carolina, Terry moved to Boston as a child and now lives in Dorchester. He is a beautifully committed volunteer, providing a helping hand with everything we do from cleaning and maintaining the Pierce-Cooke Communal Garden to distributing bags of food to our neighbors during pantry, and everything in between!
