As one of Massachusetts's largest social service nonprofit organizations, Catholic Charities of Boston serves our most vulnerable neighbors each year, regardless of religion, race, gender, age, disability, or ethnicity. CCAB has five hub locations in Dorchester, Lynn, Brockton, Lowell, and South Boston, with 23 locations supporting families across Eastern Massachusetts. The Agency's four core services assist our clients with:

• Adult Education & Workforce Development
• Refugee & Immigrant Services
We help our clients move from crisis to stability to self-sufficiency.

Catholic Charities Boston recently joined agencies from around the country for Catholic Charities USA's Annual Gathering in Richmond, Virginia. Six hundred representatives from across the national Catholic Charities network gathered to share insights, compare experiences, and explore ways to expand Catholic Charities' mission and services in the communities they serve.

During the gathering, Catholic Charities Boston Chief Operating Officer Jamie Ewing presented on the agency's efforts to develop a framework for mission-aligned program assessment, while Christine Keller, Director of Food Pantries, joined a panel discussion on maximizing pantries' role in poverty reduction.

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Junot Díaz recently visited Catholic Charities' El Centro to speak with students from both the El Centro and Labouré programs. Our students had the opportunity to hear directly from Diaz, a Dominican-American author, and discuss writing, culture, identity, and the immigrant experience.

Diaz won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for his novel "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Woa". He is also a recipient of a 2012 MacArthur Fellowship "Genius Grant". Diaz is a writing professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) .

A huge thank you to the incredible students from Archbishop Williams High School who recently volunteered at our Yawkey Center Food Pantry. In addition to packing almost 400 food bags that were distributed directly to families in need, the students also wrote messages to be included in Catholic Charities' Thanksgiving meal distributions.

“When I look at the students we have today, I see a lot of me in them.”

Today, Breyner DePina serves as the career workforce coordinator for the Catholic Charities Boston Teen Center. But having been a student there himself for many years, he knows the pride that comes with being a Teen Center alumnus. So, he recently started a project to show current students what they can achieve after their time at the Teen Center.

Catholic Charities Boston and Boston Catholic Schools together convened the inaugural Catholic Schools Service Summit on Thursday, Oct. 1, bringing together more than 100 students from across the Archdiocese of Boston to learn about the impact of service, explore ways to serve, share service experiences, and assemble hygiene kits for hundreds of Catholic Charities clients.

A huge thank you to the incredible National Grid volunteers who lent a helping hand at our Yawkey Center Food Pantry and Early Education Care Center. Their teamwork helped to assemble 900 starter bags to support our clients throughout the week. We’re so grateful for their compassion and commitment to our community.

Congratulations to our Catholic Charities North English Language Learning Academy Program Instructor, Lorraine Sanborn, for recently being named a finalist for the 2026 Peter J. Gomes Service Award by Congressman Seth Moulton. Lorraine has been a volunteer teacher with Catholic Charities for 15 years, and we couldn't be more proud of the impact she has had on so many students.

Happy to announce that Cummings Foundation is further supporting the Teen Center's impact on the community with a $60,000 award. The award is part of the Cummings Foundation’s Make A Difference Dollars (MAD$) program, which awards nonprofits like Catholic Charities based on nominations by the Cummings Foundation Site Visit Committee. Huge thank you to the Cummings Foundation for supporting our teens and making a powerful impact in our community.

On , we are reminded of the growing urgency of hunger and our work every day to address this critical need at our four food pantries across Eastern Massachusetts.

One way Catholic Charities recently took action against hunger is by participating in the Ride and Stride for Food. The recent nor'easter unfortunately forced the event's bike rides and walk to be cancelled, but the Catholic Charities team joined fellow participants and organizations at an indoor event, coming together as a community working to end food insecurity.

A huge thank you to the dedicated Regis College students who celebrated Regis Founders' Day by giving back to the Catholic Charities Boston community! Together, they served almost 400 neighbors in need at our Yawkey Food Pantry, carefully cleaned and stored air conditioner units at our St. Patrick Family Shelter, and did great work landscaping our gardens and reorganizing the common spaces at the Nazareth Family Shelter. We are incredibly grateful this partnership, as these students' service made a tangible impact on countless families in need.
