Last week, Local 589 President Jim Evers and Delegate Scott Page toured the first new Green Line Type 10 streetcars delivered to Riverside Carhouse.

Expected to enter service over the next several years, these new vehicles were designed with input from Streetcar Motorpersons through multiple feedback sessions.

Thank you to Local 589 members who shared their experience and feedback to help shape the next generation of Green Line streetcars!

The current working contract expires June 30, 2027, and negotiations for the next Working Agreement are expected to begin in early 2027.

Members who wish to submit proposals for the next contract must put them in writing and submit them to the union office by Thursday, October 15, 2026.

Yesterday, the Local 589 Executive Board joined a GOTV labor rally and walk in support of the Healey-Driscoll campaign.

With 30 days to go, we’re proud to stand with Governor Maura Healey, Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll, Representative Stephen F. Lynch, and many others in their re-election campaigns.
