Thank you Dan Kittredge of the for joining us at the Rockies Urban Wild!

We learned about Brix readings (how to measure sweetness + nutrient density), the importance of soil health, and how nature can guide us toward healthier food and communities. 🌱🌎

Dan also answered questions from neighbors and shared his wisdom on connecting soil, food, and health, a reminder that nature often has the answers we’re looking for.

The workshop will cover measuring nutritional quality of fruits and vegetables, including BRIX scores and their impact on flavor, freshness, and soil health. This interactive session will equip attendees with practical knowledge and tools to assess food quality. 🌱🍑🍎

Over the last month, our Trustees Ambassadors have been out at the Rockies helping mulch, check in on the fruit trees, cover fruit impacted by pests, clean up fallen fruit, and keep the space beautiful 🌱.

We’ve also been learning together about the challenges our orchard faces and seeing real progress. Just a few years ago, most of the fruit would fall prematurely, but thanks to this community care we’re watching the trees grow stronger each season

🍒 Big cherry cheers from the Tree Eastie Fruit Tree Project! 🌿

A few weeks ago we came together to harvest beautiful Montmorency cherries from trees that are at least 5 years old and wow, were thrilled with this years production

It’s amazing to see the fruits of our community’s care and dedication. Thank you to everyone who helped make this harvest a success here’s to many more seasons of sharing, learning, and growing together! 🍒✨

Our first-ever Fruit Tree Workshop this weekend brought together about 30 community members for a day of learning, planting, and connection. With guidance from three local experts, we explored orchard care, checked in on our apple, cherry, and peach trees, and kicked off a season of community-driven stewardship.

This program is made possible with support from GrowBoston, helping us grow a greener, more resilient East Boston. 🌳🌿
