Welcome to Long COVID Awareness Week

This week, we’re taking time to raise awareness about Long COVID — a chronic condition that is often misunderstood, but nevertheless real, measurable, and supported by a growing body of scientific evidence.

Long COVID affects millions of people. And while the symptoms aren’t always visible, their impact is very real, shaping daily life in ways many don’t see.

Listen to those living with Long COVID. Believe their experiences. Support ongoing research. And keep protecting one another.

Awareness works beyond a post: it’s how we show up, every day, for people navigating this reality.

Good news: a federal court has slowed down RFK Jr.’s anti-vaccine agenda.

The court stayed recent changes to the federal vaccine recommendation process and childhood immunization schedule while a lawsuit brought by leading medical organizations proceeds.

For more than 50 years, vaccine recommendations in the U.S. have been guided by transparent scientific review through ACIP — the gold standard for evaluating vaccine safety and effectiveness.

Protecting that process protects families.

Today’s decision is an important step toward defending science-based vaccine policy — and a reminder that advocacy works.

Exciting news! We’re proud to launch a powerful new resource for advocates, lawmakers, partners, and members of the media: the Vaccine Policy Atlas.

This tool illustrates how state public health and healthcare laws are tied to recommendations from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).

ACIP guidance isn’t merely advisory in practice — it’s woven into federal and state statutes nationwide.

When ACIP recommendations shift, policy shifts. Access shifts. Protections shift.

The Vaccine Policy Atlas compiles these laws in one place to clarify what’s at risk and to support informed, effective advocacy.

Swipe to learn how to access the Policy Atlas and explore all it has to offer.

When people question vaccination because it's "not natural"...

Let me tell you, there's nothing natural about whooping cough bacteria invading a tiny, defenceless body.

Nothing natural about watching your baby’s face turn blue as they gasp for air, or the mechanical hum of an ECMO machine keeping them alive.

Nothing natural about a newborn being poked with needles and tubes in an intensive care unit, and there is certainly nothing natural about burying your child before they have even had the chance to smile.

You know what IS natural?

Protecting your baby!

A parents love for their child is the most natural thing in the world, and because we love them, most of us choose to protect them💙

Calling all Floridians

🚨This affects YOUR kid’s school

Lawmakers meet Monday, Jan 26 at 3:30 PM to consider a bill that could weaken our school vaccine protections.

▶ What would this bill actually do?

SB 1756 has four main parts that should concern Florida families:
1    Makes opt-outs too easy - Adds undefined “conscience” exemptions and posts forms online so anyone can opt-out of required vaccines without consulting their doctor or health department
2    Puts politics in the exam room - Requires state-mandated materials before kids get routine vaccines, impeding the patient-doctor relationship and stifling true informed consent
3    Mandates schedules not backed by science - The bill would require alternative vaccine schedules not supported by medical evidence, overriding doctors’ professional judgment
4    Limits doctors’ ability to protect vulnerable patients - Could prevent healthcare providers from keeping waiting rooms safe for babies, cancer patients, and other immunocompromised patients

▶ Why does this matter to our families?

To prevent a measles outbreak, 95% of kids need to be vaccinated. Many Florida schools are already close to that line.

When rates drop below 95%, outbreaks happen. The kids who suffer most are:
    •    Babies too young to get vaccinated
    •    Children with cancer or weak immune systems
    •    Kids whose families thought they were protected by community immunity

Outbreaks also mean:
    •    Schools and daycares close
    •    Parents miss work
    •    Families lose childcare

▶ What you can do:

    •    If you have 2 minutes:
Contact your legislator using our form at flfamiliesforvaccines.org/take-action-now or link in bio

    •    If you have 5 minutes:
Contact your legislator AND share this page with 3 friends

    •    If you can take Monday afternoon:
Join us in Tallahassee at the hearing (3:30pm, Pat Thomas Committee Room)

Recent polling shows 79% of Florida voters support keeping school vaccine requirements in place. But legislators won’t know that unless we tell them.

When federal leadership undermines vaccine recommendations, responsibility shifts — but it does not disappear.

States can still protect kids, schools, and communities with strong, evidence-based vaccine policy, and Congress must exercise oversight, including calling for RFK Jr.'s impeachment.

Sen. Bill Cassidy and a Tulane pediatrician stress the safety and necessity of vaccines for children.

The Florida Department of Health is considering removing vaccine protections for kids and babies in school and childcare settings. These vaccines protect children from diseases that can lead to hospitalization, permanent disability, and death.

The pro-vaccine majority is showing up but there is still a long road ahead.

Speak up now while there is time to add your voice.

Florida’s proposed rule changes could influence public health policy far beyond the state. Now is the time to speak up.

Add your comment, stand with Floridians, and safeguard our public health.

What you can do to help:

• Submit a statement to Florida policymakers telling them why these protections matter to you and your family: flfamiliesforvaccines.org/floridaactioncenter or the link in our bio

• Share this information with others and encourage them to take action

Whether you are in Florida or you are concerned that your state may follow Florida’s lead, your story can help protect access to safe, healthy schools for every child.

Thank you for standing with our growing pro-vaccine movement today and in the future.
