On Wednesday, members of the MBF Board of Trustees attended the 35th anniversary celebration of the Boston Judicial Youth Corps (JYC). The program, which is an educational summer internship that teaches high school students about the Massachusetts court system and rule of law, includes mentorship opportunities, group discussions, field trips, and a mock trial competition.

The MBF is proud to support the Springfield and Worcester arms of the program, and joins the Supreme Judicial Court in thanking the students, court staff, and volunteers who make it possible.

The 2026 Annual Meeting is fast approaching! Are you planning to join us?

This year, we’re honoring Margaret Burnham, University Distinguished Professor of Law at Northeastern University School of Law and a fierce advocate for civil rights, accountability, and equal justice under law, as our Great Friend of Justice. We’ll also hear from IOLTA grant recipient Housing Families, as well as MBF President Perry Wu and President-elect Melissa Langa, who will share reflections on the Foundation’s impact in 2025 and what we hope to accomplish in the year ahead.

The Annual Meeting is completely free to attend and a great opportunity to network and connect with your peers in person. We hope to see you there!

At its core, philanthropy is a gift from the heart.

Because of your philanthropic support, Massachusetts Bar Foundation grantee organizations helped thousands of low-income clients receive critical legal assistance last year. Your kindness also helped law students take meaningful steps toward public interest careers, introduced high school students to the judicial system, and inspired middle school students to see themselves as future members of the legal profession.

Justice is love in action. Thank you for spreading the love with the Mass Bar Foundation.

On Wednesday, along with hundreds of private attorneys, legal service providers, and law students, the MBF participated in the 27th Annual Walk to the Hill for Civil Legal Aid.

We are grateful to for coordinating the program, which included remarks by EJC Chair Louis Tompros, President Michael Hayden, President Suma Nair, Executive Director Lynne Parker, Children’s Law Center Executive Director Jenny Chou and Attorney Alyssa Schnoor, and a client who shared her inspiring story about the lifeline that civil legal assistance provided for her son and her family in an education-related matter.

Following the program, participants visited their legislators to advocate for increased funding for civil legal aid in FY 2027.
