Yesterday, Massachusetts activated its long term contract for Vineyard Wind 1, locking in stable, affordable electricity prices for the next two decades. This project is now powering over 400,000 homes and businesses and is projected to save Massachusetts customers $1.4 billion over 20 years 🎉

Meet Erin, an IBEW Local 223 electrician who worked on the Vineyard Wind 1 project. Erin helped build this project in order to deliver price-stable, clean energy to the New England grid. Hear more about her story👆

In our own backyard, hundreds of American union workers are making renewable wind energy a reality. The Vineyard Wind 1 project, which recently completed construction, created more than 1,500 union construction jobs and will deliver enough clean energy to power more than 400,000 homes and businesses.

Vineyard Wind 1 employs hundreds of union construction workers in New Bedford and off the coast of Massachusetts. Our neighbors, our friends, and our family members will be out of a job this holiday season because of the Trump administration’s decision to pause the lease for a project that is almost complete.

Keeping this pause in place will create uncertainty for hundreds of construction workers who rely on this project to support their families, and be devastating to the energy needs of the Commonwealth.

“How can you say no to an industry that creates thousands of jobs for local communities?”

We’re saying yes — to offshore wind, good union jobs, and a cleaner, more affordable future for working families.

We celebrate because union workers like Erin from IBEW Local 223 are key to an energy-independent future.

We were thrilled to join & many more at the ceremonial climate bill signing hosted by !

This bill prioritizes workers in the fight against climate change. Today, we can celebrate creating more clean energy careers with family-sustaining wages and apprenticeships, knowing we are one step closer to ensuring that all green jobs are good jobs. 💪

On Monday, we spent the day celebrating offshore wind and sharing experiences of the union workers building it! Thank you to and the Massachusetts Maritime Academy for hosting this exciting piece of the New England Governors/Eastern Canadian Premiers Conference.

President Chrissy Lynch and
President Frank Callahan spoke about labor being at the heart of clean energy infrastructure, and how we can fight climate change while growing the middle class with thousands of family-sustaining union jobs.

In the afternoon, our Executive Director Ryan Murphy hosted a panel on Project Labor Agreements and community benefits with local labor and community leaders, including Yvonne Tobey, Program Director of South, Doug Nelson, Business Manager of , and Jim Pimental, President of the Southeastern Mass Building Trades Council.

Massachusetts is leading the way on offshore wind, and our unions can’t wait to build this critical infrastructure. Together, we can deliver more clean power to MA residents, using local, highly-skilled workers and apprentices.

📸: Thank you to Josh Qualls, Office of Governor Maura Healey, for these wonderful event photos!
