Please join us in welcoming our new Board Chair, Eric Braun.

Not only is he an experienced leader of nonprofits, but he is also a writer. He gets up most mornings at 6 am and spends the next hour or two of the day writing. He is focused, dedicated and determined. Eric has helped non-profit organizations become fiscally healthy, and he has worked with underserved communities. We look forward to his starting October 1, 2026.

*Part two!* You're invited to the WROB Table Read at 6:30 PM on September 8th, hosted by Laura Bocianski. This week we’ll be finishing "Inside Out" (Animation by Pete Docter, Meg LeFauve, and Josh Cooley). This event is open to all and free for anyone who came to Part 1.

Whether you’re honing your screenwriting craft or just interested in how great TV and movies get written, join us for an evening to laugh, learn, and meet other writers. We will assign parts, conduct a “table read”, and discuss the writing.

You've probably joined a critique group where others took turns dissecting your writing, pointing out things that did and didn't work, and where you, the writer, took notes and said nothing. Beth Nguyen proposes a different model for a critique group, where the writer is a full participant in the conversation. In our group, we want the writer to tell us the areas they want help -- for instance, whether a particular character comes across as realistic, where the pace of a story might lag, etc.

The group is open to all WROB members, fellows and alumni and, space permitting, to the general WROB community. The general community are welcome to participate free of charge for two sessions. There is no charge for members, fellows or alumni.

The Writers' Room of Boston is seeking a Board Chair to guide us in membership outreach and identify new funding opportunities. The position allows flexibility in defining the best way to achieve those goals. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about the mission of the Writers' Room and has creative vision. This position is perfect for someone with prior experience in publicity and recruiting, or someone just starting their career and looking for resume-building experience at a literary nonprofit.

Key Responsibilities:
- Leading membership and community outreach
- Identifying new funding sources
- Hosting monthly board meetings
- Expected time commitment is 5 to 8 hours a week.

This volunteer position includes the following perks:
- Free full-time membership to the Writers' Room
- Opportunities to network with the local writing community
- Public exposure of your position and efforts
- A chance to make a significant impact on a small but established organization
