Greg King Memorial Fund continuing the fight against addiction

To Our Caring Community:

Greg passed away on November 2, 2016 at the young age of 33. He was a well-known advocate in the North Shore Drug Rehabilitation community, resident of Saugus and graduate of St Mary’s High School of Lynn, class of 2002. By day, he worked for the Boston Health Commission as part of the AHOPE Harm Reduction Program. In his off time, he volunteered his great efforts to people and local community organizations dedicated to combating the area’s opioid epidemic as well as Healthy Streets Outreach Program of Lynn MA. He strived to make personal connections and to treat all he encountered with compassion and respect. In honor of Greg and his work; his family, friends, and community have come together to create a fund in his name to help continue the fight against addiction by supporting those who help people, who are suffering from addiction, and those at their most vulnerable stages. Aside from financial support to Harm Reduction programs, The Gregory King Memorial fund provides clothing and personal care products for Harm Reduction coordinators to distribute to their clients to help foster a personal connection to their clients, This personal connection leads to an increase in trust so addicts may become more receptive to ideas that may lead to them entering a recovery program.

To our caring community: Some have reached out to inquire about this year’s GKMF Ride for Harm Reduction, and sadly, we are not having the ride this year.

The GKMF Squad, and Greg’s friends in general , have become to busy, growing and raising their beautiful families to continue the constant efforts to recruit sponsors and wrangle deals with suppliers to support this event.

It’s a lot of work, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the efforts they have made over the last 9 years… I plan to make a video announcement giving some of those thanks and how these people, as well as all of you who attended, carried me though the worst of times.. and how much I appreciate you all for it.

This year instead, I am going to hold a private “non-event” ride, from Seabrook NH to Milton NH, where there will be a brisket and other foods waiting, as a thank you for your years of support.. if you are reading this, you are invited

The date is August 9, 2026 (as customary the Sunday after Greg’s Birthday 8/3/83) with a KSU time of 11:00 AM… and bring your Bathing Suits

This ride is modeled after the original ride I proposed on Facebook, in November of 2016, after his passing and before all the wonderful people, who made the GKMF Squad organized it and made it a real thing… just some friends getting together to remember Greg, and bring awareness to the benefits of supporting Opioid Harm Reduction efforts and the doors it can open.

There will be no fee but, as a 501(c)(3) Charity, with a mission, we will graciously accept all donations.

Please be on the lookout for the starting location (likely to be Master McGrath’s, The Brook or another place with access to Rte 107

Thanks again for your continued support and also watch for GregsGiving on Sunday 11/22/2026
