That's a wrap! PMC 2024
Welcome to Fall! That milestone marks another year going into the books for our Pan Mass Challenge journey. This year was PMC #14, and I'm happy to share that once again we've achieved a few worthy goals this year.
First, this year we finished the 2-day Sturbridge to Provincetown event without any major physical or mechanical issues - the weather was very nice (so thankful, you never know what it will be) and that made the ride that much more of a positive experience. That said, my current bicycle is gettin' up there in years (and mileage!) so it may be time to think about an update for next year. Many riders are moving to bike frame designs that can accommodate a gravel setup (wider wheels & tires) - so that the bike can be used for both road riding, and gravel riding. I'll do more research and maybe if there's an opportunity over the winter (the best time to invest in a new bike) I may commit to a new ride for 2025 and beyond.
Second, this year the team's commitment to Dana Farber Cancer Institute platelet donations continues (I sometimes think about how the time has flown by - 15 years of donating @ the lab in Boston) and I feel encouraged to see my team-mates still showing up every few weeks to keep the the number growing - to date, my platelet donation count has reached 170, and the team is now well over 1000 donations overall. That's a lotta platelets! ;-)
I know it's last minute - but if you have not previously joined this year's fight with a donation, please click the link to make that happen today. I'm forever grateful, and you can feel good about donating where 100% of your money goes directly to the research being done @ Dana Farber, developing the cancer treatments that save lives every day.
See you in 2025!
